I am 37 years old and have been overweight since my mid-20's. In 2005 I did Weight Watchers and lost 42 pounds, but unfortunately I am a stress eater. My ex-husband moved me to Iowa in 2006 and within a month of the move he had an affair. I started gaining my weight back at this time. I decided to stay with him and try to work things out for four years. During those 4 years I just kept gaining. To make things more challenging in 2009 I was diagnosed with a medical condition called Cavernous Malformations (CM). CM's are benign lesions in the brain and spinal cord and they will bleed. During the bleeds I am light headed if I am awake and have dizzy spells on top of that so even walking around the house proves to be challenging. The left side of my body will occasionally become numb which means I can hurt myself easily also. If I do not stay propped up then I have a bobble head effect and cannot hold my head still so I stay sitting most of the time. I have had 6 bleeds since 2009 and my current one has left me with symptoms since September (5 months so far).

Even though I am dealing with this medical situation I have not let it keep me down. I still go to church every Sunday and try to go places whenever I can. I use a cane or a rollator to help me get around depending on where I am going.

My goal is to find ways that I can work out that keep me safe with the dizziness. I purchased a set of exercise bike pedals that I can use while I stay propped up, but have not used it so far like I had planned - that is going to change!!

I wrote this because it is the way I look at things:

I am strong though I stumble
I stand tall though I am dizzy
I am rare, but not unique!

Every day is a challenge
But I will never give up
Because I know the strength within me!

I bought a pedal exerciser to use so that I can sit down and exercise. Because of my CM I cannot go out and walk right now because of the dizziness.

I love to crochet and while I watch TV this is what I do so that I do not boredom eat which is a big problem for me.
