I am a retired secretary. I joined Sparks to help me lose weight. I have recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes and high chlostorol. I have been trying to ensure I exercise every day and follow a better eating program.

I have been part of Sparks People for a year now. I have not reached my goal as I had wanted, but I have lost weight and I plan to continue with Sparks until I reach my goal and beyond. I love Sparks People.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose about 100 pounds, become more flexible, gain balance and become healthier.

My Program:
I am determined that I am going to reach my goal. I have begun a walking program, and I have purchased a pedometer that works. I am aiming to walk 10,000 steps a day or more and to perform strength training exercises at least 3 times a week. I will eat healthier and ensure I track my fitness and nutrition each day so that I can keep track of how I am doing.

Personal Information:
My name is Darlene I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Other Information:
I am a christian and I enjoy volunteering at my church. My faith in God has helped to get where I am today, and I know that with His help I can reach my goals. My husband and I have 7 children (all boys), and 14 grandchildren. My husband passed away in September, 2011.

I have been an avid reader since I was 4 years old. In my spare time I love to read mysteries and do crossword and suduku puzzles. I also enjoy reading christian books by Joyce Meyers, Stormie O'Martian, and others.

Get Cracking!

Did you know that the best quality eggs are usually those sized Small in stores?
The reason for that is because when a hen begins to lay eggs they are small and the eggs get larger as the hen matures.

If you are going to make eggs the centrepiece of your breakfast, consider small or medium eggs. The white will stand nice and high with the yolk on a fresh egg so watch for that as well.
When you crack an egg and the white spreads all over the pan, it is usually a better idea to scramble the egg.

When we bring eggs into the house from those first few days of a hen laying there is nothing better for breakfast than a fresh and tender egg.

Whether I am making eggs benedict or soft boiling them or even just simply cracking them into the pan...
eggs for breakfast are always a nutritious choice.

Organize Your Home.

Whether you're cooking a healthy homemade meal, working out in your living room, or squeezing more fitness in by speed-cleaning your house, what happens at home affects your commitment to losing weight. A disorganized home can interfere with achieving your health and fitness goals. Assess the mess in your home by going through every room and decide what needs to be dealt with (or tossed!), and then figure out a way to keep it organized permanently. Spring is here ! I hope to stay.
