My name is Karen and I became passionate about fitness & nutrition when I started competing in Taekwondo in 2004. I had to train very very intensely & also make a 112.6 lb fighting weight--hence the name "flyfighter." (Fly was my weight class). One would think that with 2-3 hours + a day of training, I could eat whatever I wanted to eat. NOT SO. Once a body gets fit, it becomes super efficient. I joined SP in 2006 to use the food tracker & I learned from experience & lots of help from my SP ...

One would think that with 2-3 hours + a day of training, I could eat whatever I wanted to eat. NOT SO. Once a body gets fit, it becomes super efficient. I joined SP in 2006 to use the food tracker & I learned from experience & lots of help from my SP friends to time my meals, balance my nutrients, and eat clean. That way I could squeeze 100% athletic performance out of my foods, staying lean, fast & strong through careful nutrition so I could watch my weight & still kick it in the ring with some of the top female athletes in the country.

Helping other people on Spark keeps me motivated too, so I am happy answer questions or give support when I can.

7/24/11 Update: nutrition by Flexchef, planning, packing & perseverance by me! 4 months post-partum, 20lbs of FAT left to lose!!!

8/23/11 Update: KILLING IT! 12+ pounds of fat gone the first month!
