Small Steps

This is the third time I started this Sparkpeople process.

The longest time I kept going was a year and I got down into normal sizes, but each time "life happened" and I gained the weight back and then some.

Examining what happened in the past, I needed to know why I stop working out and why I start eating so unhealthily when I am not doing this type of process.

In the past, I stop exercising in the Winter and once I am out of the rhythm, I find it hard to get going again so I needed to pre-plan for what I will do in the Winter months.

I joined an inexpensive gym and found Youtube videos and bought Walk Away the Pounds and a resistance band and a shake weight and Vigorfit (Similar to Total Gym). The videos bring so much variety and there are so many of them that I can do in 10 minutes that I don't get bored at all.

Eating - I know that eating sweets or too many carbs of the wrong kind causes hunger and once I allow myself to eat unrestrained it only gets worse. I researched ghrelin hormone and have some strategies to deal with and prevent hunger. I am supplementing with Vitamin D, Magnesium, Calcium, Green tea and Green coffee.

Emotionally I have broken down each time as why I stop - so I am praying for grace and healing of my emotions and am using Sparkpeople to find a supportive community.

Hi My Friend - I hope that I didn't cross a line............

I was so moved by your posting on our April Antics board, that I felt compelled to share it on my Sparkpage in a blog. I made it clear that I did not write the piece, but it really moved me deeply and I wanted to share it with as many people as I could.....

I honestly can not express to you enough the impact you have had on my journey. I look to you with a great deal of respect and admiration.

If you would rather your words not be "published" (on my blog), please let me know and I will delete it. I hope, though, that you will allow it to remain. More people need to hear your message - our value is NOT tied to our appearance.

Keep right on dancing, my friend :)

Thank you for sharing your story on the did they notice post. Your friend and I have the same doctor. Thanks for putting into words how I felt - derailed and defeated. I'm going to make sure to see a different doctor for my check ups. He shouldn't have that kind of control over my thoughts. Thanks for being courageous and strong.

Hi My Friend - I just got your post on my blog. It is awesome that the March challenge has been so great for you and so many others.

I really love the idea of going to an April challenge as well.

The MOST important thing for you, my friend, is that you stay healthy. Please, please don't push yourself too hard and make your foot worse. It is tough when you FINALLY are able to really adapt a healthy life and then feel like you have taken steps back. But, there are lots of ways to stay active without hurting yourself more. It is MUCH better in the long run to scale back a bit and heal than to push for a "goal" because it is in your head and find yourself banged up for weeks or months ;)

Morning my friend!!! I am finally catching up on really reading what is happing on SP, and especially in our challenge. I have been pre-occupied the last few days gearing up for the big landscaping project this weekend.

You bought yourself a new shirt with some red in it?!??! That is SO cool!!! I bet everytime you wear it, you are going to think of your Mad Marcher buddies :)

It is great to hear that you want to join an April challenge :) It sounds like we are going to put together two of them - 1 for fitness, 1 for nutrition.... I am just processing everyone's suggestions and looking at my abilities to do the admin work for two challenges instead of one so I actually have time to, I don't know, live a healthy, active BALANCED life in April - ha ha ha.

Keep your eye on our message board. I will be posting up in a little while my recommendation for April's challenges to see what everybody thinks so we all get ready for it :)
