Hi there... I smoked for 17 years and was finally able to quit, after many, many tries until I discovered the nicotine patch. I didn't gain weight because the patch provided a small amount of nicotine, so I didn't have cravings . It took me 10 weeks to quit completely. I was a 2 pack a day smoker, so I started with 21 mg patch... recommended if you smoke over a pack a day.
6 weeks: 21 mg 2 weeks: 14 mg 2 weeks: 7 mg
I got a prescription from my doctor and the cost was a lot cheaper than off the shelf.
As of January 2015 I have been a non-smoker for 19 years... when I quit, cigarettes cost $2.50/pack.
Good luck to you...
PS:... even if you gain some weight, that's ok, it is better than smoking and you can always lose the weight! 649 days ago
