FUNLOVEN

I am not new to the world of diet or Spark. My first Spark Trophies date back to 2009. I have had weight issues for as long as I can remember and I have tried many different diet plans that didn't last. My yo-yo dieting has left me discouraged, frustrated, and feeling hopeless at times.

I went through approx. a 10 year period where my overall attitude was one of apathy and stubbornness. I wanted to eat and drink what I wanted and when I wanted it and be skinny too! No I do not ...

I went through approx. a 10 year period where my overall attitude was one of apathy and stubbornness. I wanted to eat and drink what I wanted and when I wanted it and be skinny too! No I do not using hallucinogenics - LOL.

This time will be different. I know that the journey may get tough at times, but I also know that I must embrace a healthy lifestyle. I am now retired with a very supportive husband so I am hoping for success this time around.

4/22/13 I can't believe month 1 is done and gone. I cannot report that I have lost any weight during the past month, but my motivation has remained high. One of the most important things that I have accomplished during this past month is to not be angry; angry that I am overweight; angry that it is so hard to get the weight off; angry that I cannot eat & drink whatever I want. No, I am not angry about these things like I would have been in the past.

5/22 Another month without a weight loss worth reporting. On a positive note I have gone through many vacation days without gaining any weight either! I still don't feel that I am embracing a healthy eating life style. Left to my own devices and faced with all kinds of temptations I seem to revert back to my old self in the blink of an eye. I will have to figure out how to deal with this.

6/15 From SP: If you�re thinking that there�s something fundamentally wrong with you, tell yourself the problem is in the situation�not in you�and look for ways to change the situation.

7/15 As you can see from my ticker I have lost 15# since starting back with SP this past March 2013. Although I have a ways to go mentally and physically to achieve a healthy life style, I have accomplished quite a bit in the past 4 months. I remain happy & motivated. On the down side, I seem to be a very slow learner, but I will keep plugging away at this life changing challenge.

1/16/14 I had a Left Total Hip replacement done on 12/23 and so it is back to square one for me as far as fitness minutes go and healthy eating. I am looking forward to putting this all behind me and feeling "normal" again by this May.

12/22/14 During the past 12 months I have had 3 other hospitalizations. One due to Acute Diverticulitis, one for surgery to resolve the diverticula, and one to replace my other hip! It has been a year of many ups & downs, but mostly I have moved nowhere on the healthy eating and fitness scale. That is until just before my hip surgery when I came across fatloser.com and The Beck Diet Solution from my Spark Friends blogs. Those two sources have proven to be invaluable to me and have set me back on the weigh loss track!

My Goals:
My goal is to reach my ideal weight as determined by a formula which takes into account not only my height, but also my age.

NUTRITION:
1. I will follow no special diet, but make my food choices from healthy options. No foods are off limits, but food without nutrition should be kept to a minimum.

2. I will be mindful of portion control.

3. I will be diligent about limiting my consumption of alcohol with no more than 0-2 drinks at a time.

4. Using the Beck Solution I will learn to think like a thin person.

FITNESS:
1. I will do some kind of exercise x 30 minutes 6 times per week.

2. I will develop a fitness routine/schedule.

3. I will increase my Steps to 5000 by May 1, 2015.

WEIGHT LOSS:
I will reach my goal weight by December 31, 2015.

Exercise Schedule:
Day 1 Strength: Curves
Day 2 Cardio: Walk/Bike
Day 3 Core: TBD
Day 4 Strength: Curves
Day 5 Cardio: Walk/Bike
Day 6 Rest
Day 7 Yoga

Eat within SP calorie range.


Personal Information:
I am 63 yrs. old. 5'9" and about 20# over weight. I have a DH that has spoiled me for 40 yrs. We have 1 DD who is married to a great guy and they have given us 2 grandkids that we adore. My DH and I are retired and we are making the most of these years while we are able.

Other Information:
Sometimes I think I can make fun out of a rock ! That is how I picked my handle "funloven". I love to have fun :) My hobbies include my Motorcycle, Reading, Gardening, Cooking, Scrapbooking, and Socializing. I frequently tell people I retired from work because it interfered with my social life. LIVE LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST is my motto.

Thank you for commenting on my blog and for the goodie! It's taken me all week to start getting back to everyone. Whew what a week! Your comment on junk food didn't offend me at all. In fact, I've tried to get David on board and he revolted! Old dog--new tricks. Oh well. I just have to be stronger. And flexible. I hope you've had a good week as well!

I hear ya. I'm planning a cheat day, not a binge day. Cheat means I can enjoy foods that I would not eat on a daily basis. It doesn't mean stuffing my face! I'm telling myself this because I could see easily treating it more as a binge day. That's why I've never tried a cheat day before! But it has been easier avoiding temptation this week with the knowledge that anything I pass up on today, I can eat without guilt on Saturday!

Thank you so much for your comment on my previous blog. Sometimes we forget what comes easy for 1 person can be a challenge for someone else. You are doing GREAT walking many steps after your hip issues so be PROUD of each & every one you make. I really don't have a step secret...although my love of dance & cardio does play a LARGE part in me successfully getting my 10,000 steps in most days. It's so weird, when I worked before retirement I was at that 100,000 mark frequently...we did a lot of walking...if you know the size of Home Depots!

Now though I just try to move when I can...& living in a 4 level house sure helps!!! emoticon

Now, curves & strength training is another story! emoticon emoticon

Like you, I just keep on keepin on!!!
