FUNLOVEN

I am not new to the world of diet or Spark. My first Spark Trophies date back to 2009. I have had weight issues for as long as I can remember and I have tried many different diet plans that didn't last. My yo-yo dieting has left me discouraged, frustrated, and feeling hopeless at times.

I went through approx. a 10 year period where my overall attitude was one of apathy and stubbornness. I wanted to eat and drink what I wanted and when I wanted it and be skinny too! No I do not ...

I went through approx. a 10 year period where my overall attitude was one of apathy and stubbornness. I wanted to eat and drink what I wanted and when I wanted it and be skinny too! No I do not using hallucinogenics - LOL.

This time will be different. I know that the journey may get tough at times, but I also know that I must embrace a healthy lifestyle. I am now retired with a very supportive husband so I am hoping for success this time around.

4/22/13 I can't believe month 1 is done and gone. I cannot report that I have lost any weight during the past month, but my motivation has remained high. One of the most important things that I have accomplished during this past month is to not be angry; angry that I am overweight; angry that it is so hard to get the weight off; angry that I cannot eat & drink whatever I want. No, I am not angry about these things like I would have been in the past. I am happy that I am eating better most of the time, I have been able to exercise more in the past month than I have in the past 4 years, and that I am positively looking forward to the next month of this journey.

5/22 Another month without a weight loss worth reporting. On a positive note I have gone through many vacation days without gaining any weight either! I still don't feel that I am embracing a healthy eating life style. Left to my own devices and faced with all kinds of temptations I seem to revert back to my old self in the blink of an eye. I will have to figure out how to deal with this.

6/15 From SP: If you’re thinking that there’s something fundamentally wrong with you, tell yourself the problem is in the situation—not in you—and look for ways to change the situation.

7/15 As you can see from my ticker I have lost 15# since starting back with SP. Although I have a ways to go mentally and physically to achieve a healthy life style, I have accomplished quite a bit in the past 4 mos despite 2 major vacations. I have lost weight, I have completed my first 5K, I have completed my first 5% Team Challenge, I remain happy & motivated. On the down side, I seem to be a very slow learner, but I will keep plugging away at this life changing challenge.

1/16/14 I had a Left Total Hip replacement done on 12/23 and so it is back to square one for me as far as fitness minutes go. Right now I am working on putting one foot in front of the other and exercises prescribed by my therapist to strengthen the muscles in my left leg. I have "hip precautions" x 3 months that will severely limit the kind of exercising I can do. I am looking forward to putting this all behind me and feeling "normal" again by this May. My weight is down due to a poor appetite caused by pain medications, but this loss has given me a jump start for success in my 5% Challenge.

My Goals:

NUTRITION:
I will eat mindfully at each meal.

I will do some kind of exercise x 30 minutes 3 times per week.

WEIGHT LOSS:
I will loose 10# by May 1, 2014.

OTHER:
I will develop a WIN TODAY Daily Routine Goals by the end of 2014 - here is my start:

1. Start my day with God
2. Check in with SP - articles, blogs, e-mails, friends, Spark Coach.
3. Not spend any more then 2 hrs. on my computer in the morning.
4. Eat a healthy breakfast.
5. Do exercise or rest day as scheduled.
6. Eat a healthy lunch.




My Program:
Officially started Spark Coach 3/18/13.

Exercise Schedule:
Day 1 - Curves
Day 2 - TBD
Day 3 - Walk
Day 4 - TBD
Day 5 - Curves
Day 6 - Walk
Day 7 - Rest

Eat within SP calorie range.


Personal Information:
I am 62 yrs. old. 5'9" and about 20# over weight. I have a DH that has spoiled me for 40 yrs. We have 1 DD who is married to a great guy and they have given us 2 grandkids that we adore. My DH and I are retired and we are making the most of these years while we are able.

Other Information:
Sometimes I think I can make fun out of a rock ! That is how I picked my handle "funloven". I love to have fun :) My hobbies include my Motorcycle, Reading, Gardening, Cooking, Scrapbooking, and Socializing. I frequently tell people I retired from work because it interfered with my social life. LIVE LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST is my motto.

Thank you, Sue, For your wonderful note and sentiment. I don't believe my absence from SP will be a long one just some time to focus on some other life issues, such as getting our household moved over the next month. We are actually moving to your side of the state, as we have just purchased a condo in Holland. I am so looking forward to Lake Michigan and all the bike trails in and around Holland. Will see you here again someday soon. BB

I was thinking of this quote in relation to your blog about the number of steps. Try substituting "tracker" and see if it helps. Sounds to me like you're making a great recovery and THAT'S the amazing thing. Just take care of yourself and give yourself the time...healing takes time.

That toally makes sense. If it is someone who wants to lose weight and is looking for advice I will give them the long detailed answer of how I did it, but this woman lost 100 pounds and is keeping it off... she was being more nosey/ridiculous, not asking for help or advice. ;)

Thanks for your encouraging comments Sue. I always appreciate getting your feedback. The book "Purpose Driven Life " is perfect for lent. The book has 40 short chapters. One for each day. Hope you are healing well and will be ready for biking weather (if it ever comes here in Michigan).
