I am not new to the world of diet or Spark. My first Spark Trophies date back to 2009. I have had weight issues for as long as I can remember and I have tried many different diet plans that didn't last. My yo-yo dieting has left me discouraged, frustrated, and feeling hopeless at times.

I went through approx. a 10 year period where my overall attitude was one of apathy and stubbornness. I wanted to eat and drink what I wanted and when I wanted it and be skinny too! No I do not using hallucinogenics - LOL.

This time will be different. I know that the journey may get tough at times, but I also know that I must embrace a healthy lifestyle. I am now retired with a very supportive husband so I am hoping for success this time around.

4/17/16 I wrote those words back in April of 2013. A lot has happened since then and my efforts at getting healthy have been slow and a struggle. On the positive side, by Dec. 2013, even though I was not at goal. I had managed to lose more weight. But that date also brought a host of hospitalizations for 2 hip replacements and a bowel resection. Another positive is that my attitude has remained determined. I want to be healthy, live healthy, and think healthy instead of just thinking of this journey as a diet and this is something I truly believe. The year of 2015 was a sabbatical of sorts. I didn't pay much attention to that healthy thinking and I spent the year celebrating not having any health issues which resulted in a regain of 10#. So 2016 brought a renewal of determination! I lost those 10#s and finally had landed on a fitness routine that worked perfect for me. I was doing very well until February when I injured my right knee somehow at a Zumba class. So I have been facing another period of discouragement and disappointment since then. I feel like I have given up, but in my heart I know I have not.! Some time ago I came upon a SP quote and I still like it -

My Goals:
My goal is to reach my ideal weight as determined by a formula which takes into account not only my height, but also my age.

1. I will follow no special diet, but make my food choices from healthy options. No foods are off limits, but food without nutrition should be kept to a minimum.

2. I will eat mindfully.

3. I will be diligent about limiting my consumption of alcohol with no more than 0-2 drinks at a time.

4. Using the Beck Solution and 100 DWL I will learn to think like a thin person.

1. I will do some kind of exercise x 30 minutes 6 times per week.

2. I will develop a fitness routine/schedule. Done

3. I will increase my Daily Steps to an average of 7000 .

I will reach my goal weight by December 31, 2016.

Personal Information:
I am 64 yrs. old. 5'9" and about 20# over weight. I have a DH that has spoiled me for 40 yrs. We have 1 DD who is married to a great guy and they have given us 2 grandkids that we adore. My DH and I are retired and we are making the most of these years while we are able.

Other Information:
Sometimes I think I can make fun out of a rock ! That is how I picked my handle "funloven". I love to have fun :) My hobbies include my Motorcycle, Reading, Gardening, Cooking, Scrapbooking, and Socializing. I frequently tell people I retired from work because it interfered with my social life. LIVE LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST is my motto.
