A New Year and a New Me.

This is a restart on Sparkpeople for me. A clean slate, a new chance and a ditching of the history that caused my weight gain after being successful the first time.

Last year I turned 60 and I am hoping that by the time my birthday comes around this year I will be healthier, have more energy and can face my next decade with a joy for living.

My Goals:
Short term goals
1 Finish level 2 Gillian Michaels weight loss program on treadmill. Reached a bit of a hiatus in the proceedings because treadmill has broken down and needs a new motor.

2 Walk for at least 1 hour at least 3 times a week.

3 Eat bigger breakfast, and lunch and stop worrying about saving calories for treats. If I have a treat - get on that treadmill and work off those calories.

Long Term Goals
1 Start the couch to 5 k running program - it wont matter if I take longer than the specified 9 weeks - just get out there and RUN. (I havnt run in years.

2 Do a long walk once a week aiming towards more and longer walks and becoming a Santiago Compostella Pilgrim in the autumn.

3 Join a walking club locally.

My Program:
Step by step I will work towards eating delicious healthy food, having normal portions, and stopping the binge diet situation that has lately become the norm for me. I will get back to a level of fitness that I managed to achieve last year, but sadly have let lapse (and oh how quickly the rot sets in).

Personal Information:
I'm 60 years old, english and living and working in UK and also in France. I should have it all, but something stops me enjoying the fruits of my wonderful life and something makes me binge/diet enough to stop me achieving my goals.

Other Information:
I am a mother to two wonderful sons, now both grown with beautiful wives and I feel truly blessed in my sons choices. I am a grandmother to 2 small boys 7 and 4, and cat mummy to 3 gorgeous rescued ferals. I was widowed in 1993 when my boys were 18 and 14 and for the last 12 years have happily been in a relationship.

Hi GAMMATINA
Welcome to the Nordic SparkTeam - using poles is a great way to get the most out of walking.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I'm not much of a runner, but can walk a 5k. I feel so good about that! Good luck to you on the Couch to 5k program. It's a good one! I was able to do a slow job for 5 minutes when I took a 5k class last summer. That was huge for me. But then I got bursitis/tendonitis in my shoulder and the doc said to quit jogging for a while due to the jarring! Who'd think you could injure a shoulder while jogging? I was more concerned about my knees and hips! LOL

Best to you!
