I have struggled with my weight all my life. i figured it up one time, I have lost over 230 pounds during my life but 20 to 30 pounds at a time. My family dna and traits is fat cells, the odd way of saying we all have weight issues so at a young age I made a promise to myself that I would not be fat. I was raised on meat and potatoes. I had not ever eaten 90% of veggies and even fruit until I was over 21. So I have spent a life time learning how to eat right and prepare them, this continues to ...

I had not ever eaten 90% of veggies and even fruit until I was over 21. So I have spent a life time learning how to eat right and prepare them, this continues to be a challenge for me and lack of exercising or the desire too everything else is more important then my health."wrong attitude"
When i was a child i was always outdoors and walking,running, climbing mountains, riding my bike so I had no problems with weight even though i eat very unhealthy, but at age 13 we moved to the other side of town and my life became less active. The weight issues started and at age 15 i weighted 135 "I was only 5 ft 2 in" 16 was a huge yr for me not only did I do a starvation diet I grew to 5 ft 8 inchs. I lost down to 112 and stayed there tell i got pregnant at age 18 through the next four yrs and the births of three healthy children. i stayed at a stable weight going from 125 to 156. smoking helped me to keep weight off and not to gain weight.
the real weight/health problems began when i quit smoking at age 24 from there my weight has gone up and down. If there was a new diet I was the one who tried it. I would get to a healthy weight and bang I would gain the weight back.
for 2 and haf yrs I kept the weight off but i walked five days a week and I watched every bite I ate, I cut out sugar, fried food, fatty breakfast foods and ate small portions.nor did i eat after 5pm. I did not even own a scale. my energy level was good and I felt ok then my blood sugar started dropping do to my good old family dna and also i would not eat until after noon or I'd eat one meal a day. and I had to eat several times a day. small portions. to not feel so bad.
I started weight watchers at that point and learned what to eat and how to eat and it helped me so much. learning how to eat healthy. and exercise it all fit together. keeping the weight off was a nother challenge, but old and bad habits are hard to break and healthy ones are easy to lose.
I used to not eat when i was under stress but do to my sugar issues i started eating when i was upset. stress tends to make blood sugar levels unstable.
my heaviest weight was 2 and half yrs ago. I was up to 193 being 5 ft 8 inch i told myself i carried the weight well. but i could not stand looking at pictures of me. i went to a new doctor I was so depressed I could not get off the couch all i could do was go to work, eat come home eat . he told me i needed to take care of myself and if i did not i would have either a heart attack or a stroke in five yrs and i was one step away from being on medication for diabetis and heart disease. he put me on an antidepressant and a low fat diet.
my kids where grown and had left home a few yrs before and I had started painting and doing many hobbies,my husband since 1998 loved to eat but had started running to get the weight off and to be in shape. My problem was not things to do or my marraige which is a great one, it was how i felt.
then my oldest son came to me and told me his girlfriend was pregnant and he knew she would not be able to care for the child. son with problems meets girl with problems has a child.
katy was born 3 and half weeks early. i think out of self defense.."LONG STORY" she was healthy but very weak and small. at 15 days old she was taken into state custody. her birth parents just did not get how to take care of her .they care about katy girl but are unable to take care of her even with the help of several dcs workers,training, couseling etc etc... is all i will say about it.
so me being me and not being able to bear the loss of her and her being in the trap of foster care.I decided to bring her into our home. my hubby did not want to get involved for a while but after holding katy girl in his hands and her smile looking up at him when she was 16 days old. she softened his heart.
So here i am going on the AARP train next nov "the big 50" hahaha and knowing if I do not take care of myself i may not live to raise our daughter "Katy" who we adopted last nov, so i realized the things i have been doing wrong and what i needed to lose the weight and keep it off and I found sparks. the greatest tools thanks for taking the time to read my story. just me ging.

do genealogy, paint am very creative. garden, can and eat alot of what we grow. luv to bake and am learning how to bake healthy foods..have kids in thier mid 20's and a two yr old have been married 13 yrs to my best friend ...

You wrote a great message Ginger. Hope you are doing okay. We weigh the same right now, I have been stress eating like crazy. I start my Medical Assisting externship in 2-3 weeks. I am getting so nervous. I would say I will be glad to be done but I have decided now that in January I will start a limited x-ray class that is another 4 months. It's now or never! I meant to say "let's kick up the energy and get the rest of this weight off". emoticon
