Hi, I started off on my healthier journey (and weight loss quest) in April 2009. I didn't want to take any pills, have a strict meal plan, or some weird, fad diet. Update 07/21/10: I am still maintaining my weight--I will have maintained for almost a year (August 2009). It's been difficult maintaining--but thanks to my Spark friends--I've been able to continue.

Update: I accomplished my goal in August 2009, and I'm currently in maintenance mode--which is harder than it seems. I lost a total of 23 lbs. I started off at 136 lbs and and stopped at 113. I decided that my maintenance weight will be approximately 114-115. I decided 113 was too low for me for my preference/body. My waist size was 32 inches, and last I looked it was 27 inches.

1. I bought a calorie tracker (tracks how many calories I've burned). It's called GoWear Fit. I've been using it since April 1. You don't have to do get this, but it is helpful.

2. I decided to take my weight loss seriously this time.

3. Consistent exercise. I was exercising maybe two or three times a week--but nothing really consistent. I exercise at least 5 times a week now.

4. Log in what you eat for a week, and see what you eat. I was eating a lot of junk. Not very healthy. This is where I was able to finally get past my plateau.

5. Believe that you can do it. Don't get discouraged, or be hard on yourself. Start slow!

My Goals:
Healthier habits and maintain my goal weight.

Starting Weight: 136 lbs
Goal Weight: 115 lbs





My Program:

Turbo Jam: 5-6 Times a week

Chalene Extreme Program - about 3-4 times a week

Martial Arts - Usually twice a week for 1-2 hours. Sometimes I train and help teach class.

Cycling: around town with hubby about 14-34 miles a week. (He usually has to convince me to do the long mileage.) ;-)

Eating healthier by eating five to six small meals a day. Added more protein to my diet, so that I don't feel as hungry and lethargic.

Try to sleep more!



Personal Information:
I have two kids--one boy and one girl. My son is in college, and my daughter is in high school (teenagers!). ;) I love my hubby!

I still train in martial arts (mixed martial arts) and help teach. Oh, I have a black belt (third degree). I've been training for 15 years. :)

Other Information:
I love to read books! I'm a geek, and I love technology (well, when it works, right?)!

Hey lady!
If you like the dancy type of dvd's and you have Turbo Jam..you might try Turbo FIRE! The music is really good and it's more athletic..plus has a few more strength dvds in it I really like (and it's all low on time:)
What kind of dance does your daughter do? Does she workout with you or do her own thing at class?
Weekend plans? 70's huh? Man it got to the mid 30's here today and it was like a HEAT WAVE!

hey sue...thanks for the add, i love that you have been to france!! the goal is for us to move there one day, so any feedback o where you have visited would be awesome to hear about!! i can't believe you have 2 kids, one in college, you don't look old enough for that emoticon .....are you still doing the martial arts?
