Thanks for the Spark Goodie and especially the prayers. Tucker's abscess was growing so quickly and invading the brain area. They tell us we were so very lucky that he got medical care so fast. He will be in the hospital at least a couple more days as they are giving him antibiotics and steroids through an IV. They cultured the stuff they drained out of his sinuses to find out the specific bacteria. Right now they are giving him very strong antibiotics but hopefully, by tomorrow, they can switch to the right med for the right bacteria. At this time, they do not think he has any vision permanent damage even though Tucker complained of double vision. With time, they believe that will return to normal. Right now he's still keeping his eye closed most of the time.

I think I posted a picture last fall of these carrots, they are so dark purple that they are almost black, your hands will turn all purple peeling them, I made carrot soup, and carrot fritters, they looked black, but were very delicious. You can't add them to soup or dishes because they will turn everything purple, but they are delicious tossed with a little olive oil and roasted. I have seen other "purple" carrots, but it is just skin deep with them, not sure where he got the seed, but we both order from Fedco, so probably there. They winter very well, we have a lot of snow cover so don't bother with straw or hay, nice spring veggie, now for some fiddlehead and dandelion greens!

Guess we can't do HTML or link to the blog, but it is titled Purple people eaters eat purple carrots

Thanks for your comments on my blog about DS's 30th birthday. You put into words what I hadn't quite discovered yet - I was wondering yesterday why I was feeling so weepy! It makes me feel comforted to know that perhaps this is a commonplace reaction.
