Going to the next level

I have been doing things to avoid diabetes for 20 years now (since both of my parents were diagnosed). Two years ago, work offered Gym memberships and I pounced on it. I refused to go any higher than 36 on those jeans. I've been going 3 times per week, but I'm not seeing the results that I want. A month ago, I started with the personal trainers. My Goals:
My goal is to drop 20 pounds of fat, drop to a 34" waist and put an inch on my chest before year end.

My Program:
The personal trainers have me going to the gym twice per week for workout-to-failure exercises. They want me to do 2330 calories per day in three meals and three snacks. The plan calls for 40% good carbs, 40% protein and 20% fat in every meal. Sounds like the zone diet to me.

Love to walk my dogs on the Towpath trail. Would love to ride bikes there too if I could find someone to go with.

I don't know about you, but I am struggling to develop a belief in myself. I think that's probably true of many of us here on Spark due to past life experiences and interactions. I think we should all repeat "I believe in myself and I deserve to reach my goals" to ourselves frequently!
