The intended msg. for me was that exercise does help reverse autoimmune diseases or at least stabilize it. At the time I was diagnosed w/M.S. I knew the diagnosis didn't fit me because it didn't meet the minimum amt. of points needed but I did have idiopathic optic neuritis. Optic neuritis is often associated w/M.S. At any rate, I was tole to keep exercising and I did and the eye problem which initially prompted the diagnosis cleared up.
One of the hallmarks of M.S. is the deterioriation of the myelin sheath on nerves, which means that nerve conduction is altered or destroyed.
I also have Hashimotos thyroiditis, another autoimmune disease and it too has been controlled with meds and exercise. The antibodies measured in my blood stream against my thyroid have decreased to within normal range.
