Welcome, I'm Kirk. No, that is not me in the photo but I thought wouldn't it be great to someday be as svelte and gorgeous in a tux. That's why I came to this site with a picture of a chimp in a suit and a dream. This is America and almost anything is possible if one sets their mind to it. I believe this law is universal on the planet but in this country there seem to be fewer insurmountable obstacles. Where there's a will there's a way. My goal on paper seems reasonable enough, almost trivial, to go from my current weight of about 230 down to healthier one of 170 or less. My deadline (pun intended) is July 31, 2009 UPDATE: Dec 30, 2010 is my new time to goal. I don't know if you've recently wandered through a grocery store (don't get me started on buffets) or not but there's a war being waged against our waistlines and if we as consumers don't get hip to the tricksters on what they're trying to sell us we americans are only going to get larger and further strain an already sinking health care system. It seems like I've always been active but somewhere in my early thirties things got away from me and I got up to 260 pounds. I resolved to getting fitter in January 2007 and while progress has been made and I feel a lot better, stronger and more "virile" than ever, or at least remember, I know I need to bring this train to the station. I'm learning that support, giving and receiving, can be a huge factor in achieving any goal and that's another reason I'm here. To offer encouragement, advice, links and the occassional laugh (ok, I thought it was funny) as we make our year and our lives lighter, happier places to be. What will the new me be like? Besides being slightly ripped and wearing smaller I have no idea, but I'm looking forward to the adventure. Change is not easy, especially when you're used to things being a certain way long enough, good or bad. That's enough rambling for now but I wish all of us new found and long kept successes in 2009 and beyond!
UPDATE: Can someone tell this guy to update his intro. Hello...it's like 2014 already.
UPDATE: Looks like I've been hacked. Someone has a little too much free time on their hands but whatever. Still fighting the good fight to stay under 200. Hoping to finish 2014 at 180 or less. Time to make it happen.

I will exercise at least 5 days per week (strength and cardio), watch what I eat, stay hydrated and get great rest and repeat for the rest of my life. I will also meditate on what I want to create; I think the mental factor is greatly underestimated in it's ability to help us achieve the lives we envision for ourselves and those connected to us.

TY Kurt !! EXCELLENT suggestion on using weights !! I have a friend,, we share her car,,,, I pay half the insurance,,, hehehe BUT NOT THE PAYMENTS for the car ! LOLOL hey I KNOW a GREAT Deal when I have it ! When it dies it's MY turn to buy one. SO GLAD she moved upstairs. She goes to Planet Fitness,,, time for me to ALSO join. She depends on me to much, so I wanted her to break out of her shell and do it alone for awhile.

Thank you for reading my blog and for your kind comments. I am doing well. My knee surgery is on hold because my husband decided he needed to go first. He is back to work now and also doing well after his August 4th knee replacement.
