Well, 2008 was a good year - I met a number of my goals...completing my first 10K was an absolute highlight, but after the race, I sort of fell off the running wagon for a while. Rather than feel sorry for myself, I now realize it's time to DO something about it!! I started running again and even completed Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred! For anyone who knows me, this is HUGE as I rarely did any other form of exercise besides running! I know it's only been 3 days, but I am still ...
I know it's only been 3 days, but I am still proud of what I've accomplished this week.
My plan for 2009 is to get back in shape by sticking to a workout plan (running & XT) and tracking my food. I was at my goal weight at the end of 2007 and I would LOVE to get back there again this year! So 120 here I come!!!!
I need to register for some races in 2009, so I have a goal to work towards. My original goal for this year (set in 2008) was to complete my first 1/2 marathon, but I'm not yet convinced I'll be ready for a spring 1/2. Maybe I'll choose one for the fall?? I'm looking forward to having a training schedule again - I know I work better with a schedule!
So here's to the new year and the new me......which will be to get the old me back again! :o)
I'm married and have two kids, ages 4 and 2. Last year, I celebrated my 40th birthday and decided it was time to lose ALL (70+ pounds) of the baby weight and do something that I've never done in my life.....run a 5K!! I am very proud to say that I ran (not walked) a total of three 5K's last year! I beat my previous time with each run and BELIEVE ME this was no easy task!! I've never considered myself to be a very athletic person! I didn't even think I could run for any legnth of time. I had been walking on the treadmill for some time and had a friend who started running. She introduced me to the "Couch to 5K" program and I couldn't believe the first time I ran a whole mile!!! Ever since I strarted running, I've been striving for more. I just feel so good about myself when I run - and it's my "ME" time, which I don't get enough of!! Running and making healthy food choices helped me lose 50+ pounds last year.
I decided to join the Spark community because I have my a 5K coming up next weekend and I'm finding myself not as motivated as I've been in the past.
My goal for next weekend's run is to finish within 30 minutes, which would beat my best time of 30:36 from last year. But I'm already accepting failure, because I haven't been dedicated to training!
I am very proud of my accomplishments so far, but I feel Iike I'm headed down the wrong path and I need some guideance to get me back on track again!!

I started over a year ago counting points with Weight Watcher's. I never attending a meeting, but did very well using the WW website.
Today, my program includes preparing healthy meals for my family 5-6 times a week - leaving one day for "the good stuff", like PIZZA! I also run 3-4 times a week and stay active by chasing my toddlers around every day!
I live in Michigan and recently became a stay at home mom, after working several years in the banking/accounting industry. I enjoy running, golfing, scrapbooking and reading.
