In no particular order the "Top 12 Things" that have helped me avoid gaining weight during stressful events.
1) Support from friends and family.
2) Logging on to Spark People daily.
3) Faith.
4) Eating a hearty salad with protien
5) Freezing 1/4 cup of juice in bottom of water bottle then adding water over the frozen juice. Yumm....I drink ...

6) Walking the dogs every evening.
7) Visualizing cravings as little beasts and disciplining them by telling them "no" they may not have sugar. That way I do not feel deprived.
8) Decluttering house. It's uplifting and fights cravings.
9) Gardening
10) Enjoying the sunshine.
11) Hearty vegetable and bean soup in a rainbow of colors.
12) Eliminating most wheat products from diet.

I am progressing even though I don't have A SINGLE word added to my Nano. Instead I have made a large story board. I'm wading through my old work. Slow but steady. As for exercise and food... yikes. DH being laid off has sure thrown a bomb into the room. I know I am bouncing all over the place. He has 3 interviews today (on the phone right now with one) which is fantastic but I still hate the stress. My plan for Nano month had been quite different to this. Quiet, serenity... letting my family cope while I hide out in my office coming out only to eat my clean foods and walk or do my ST or go in the pool. Oh well, it is still early. Hope your words are flowing!
