Get Healthy and Stay Healthy

My husband and I have had so many stresses in our lives lately. But I refuse to use any of that as an excuse for not getting to the healthy place I want to be. I may not be able to do all I would like to do, but I can do something each and every day to get closer to my goal of good health. Multiple sclerosis has stolen a lot, but it has also given. I recognize some of my limits and know there will be consequences if I choose to push beyond what is healthy for me. I continue to fight ...
I continue to fight fibromyalgia and thyroid issues. All seems to be pretty well under control and I pray I can keep it that way. Migraines interfere with some of life, but I always know I will come out the other side just fine. I've gotten through three scary concussions and a battle with breast cancer. I know the Lord has me here for a reason and I am determined to be the healthiest and strongest me I can be to meet the challenges and joys head on. No more hiding out behind life. I choose to lead the charge!
Our miracle granddaughter, Ziva, celebrated her first birthday in December. We weren't sure she would survive very serious head surgery last May, but she's a fighter. Her skull was cut to ribbons and spacers implanted, her eyes moved and nose adjusted. Now, being small is the only obvious challenge. She loves life and thrills in every new experience. She is my little hero. I want to be the healthiest and strongest I can be to be to her and to my other little grandchildren the grandma I never had. We are loving our little condo as Ziva's family lives in our house about 20 miles from us. They will be near for the next two years as her daddy completes a critical care fellowship (he's a neurologist and decided he wanted more challenges than his small town practice offered in Montana). We are thrilled to have them here and pray they will decided to stay. We'll see. We are soon to have another granddaughter as our son and wife in Seattle are expecting their second daughter in a few weeks. Life is good.
I want to lose these extra pounds that hold me back from being all I desire. I think I can, I think I can, I KNOW I can do it! God is so good. With Him all things are truly possible. Praise God!

My Goals:
I want to be the healthiest me I can be. I have some health challenges, but know I can get the weight issue under better control.

My Program:
I am eating healthy most of the time and getting exercise most every day. I'm trying to be consistent..

Personal Information:
I'm a California girl who was transplanted to Utah many years ago. I still miss the beaches, but love the mountains. I've been married since March 1973, have two married children and five grandchildren. The kids live in Washington and Utah. I struggle with challenges related to multiple sclerosis, migraine headaches and fibromyalgia.Life is good! My name is Barbara, but my Spark name comes from the name my first grandson gave me when he first began talking. I've been Baba ever since.

Other Information:
I've struggled with weight most of my life. It's never been an issue of obesity, but it has interfered with life in many ways and continues to be an emotional burden. I dread looking into mirrors.

Persistence is key. Accept the fact that you might not make it ~on the first try. In a recent study, only 40% of people who successfully followed New Year's resolutions did it on the first try; 17% of resolution achievers took six or more tries before they got it right – but they did get it right...

To enjoy the glow of good health, you must exercise...

I think exercise tests us in so many ways, our skills, our hearts, our ability to bounce back after setbacks. This is the inner beauty of sports and competition, and it can serve us all well as adult athletes...
