My winter goals

I recently wrote a blog about this being MY TIME! I am planning on retiring in May so I can spend more time w/ my DH, daughters, and grandchildren.

My DH and I want to take some hiking/biking vacations, so I need to get in better shape. A few years ago, I was able to do an extreme exercise course "in the trees", but don't have the strength for it now. I would like to be able to do it again and complete more of the course than last time.

My DH and I want to take some hiking/biking vacations, so I need to get in better shape. A few years ago, I was able to do an extreme exercise course "in the trees", but don't have the strength for it now. I would like to be able to do it again and complete more of the course than last time.

So, besides cardio, I need to pump up my ST so I can make my arms stronger. I am also scheduled to do a sprint triathlon and a 1/2 marathon the first half of the year, so I need to bike, swim, run several times a week.

I am ready to take back my life!

My Goals:
My goals for winter:

1) bike/swim/run (one or two of these a day) 6 days a week

2) track EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth!

3) Hike 2 times a month

4) spend more time with our grandchildren

5) spend more time with God

My Program:
I have signed up for a sprint triathlon at the end of March, so I need to get busy training. I have a program to follow, but am not always consistent, because of work, home life, etc. However, my goal is to swim 3 days a week, bike 3 days a week, and run/walk 3 days a week. Some of the activities should be done the same day, so I will have a day of "rest" or cross training. I need to find time to stretch and strength train also, because both of these will improve my stamina, my flexibility, and my ability to bike, swim, and run.

Personal Information:
I have been married 38 years, am mother of 3 WONDERFUL daughters, grandmother of 7 grandchildren (4 boys, 3 girls). I am a Nurse Practitioner who cares for the homeless population, doing what I believe God wants me to do. However, it is time to close this chapter of my life; I will certainly miss all the wonderful people I have cared for, but plan on retiring. My DH retired 5 years ago, so it is time for me to spend time with him.


Other Information:
I love to sew and quilt; I am hoping to reorganize my life to work on some unfinished projects, although I am not sure how that will happen. I love to read, but seem to only get time when I am sitting in a waiting room. I usually carry a book in the car "just in case".

I used to be a gymnast,,,,, I hope ur GDs meet went very well and that she placed in the top 3 ! YEAH !!

EXCELLENT JOb Pam with the updated page !! I LOVE how you again wish to do the extreme tree,, and have a couple of races in mind ! I TOTALLY ADMIRE that though we are NOT spring Chickens,, or chickies,,,, you DO NOT Let "THAT" stop you !!! That's sooooo AWSOME GAL !!

So how do you plan,,,, its WINTAH time,, to start the exercise off? We have an indoor track,,,, its at the Community Center,, about 7 mins (car) from where I live,,, I can do ALL the walking I want,, and NOT get bored,, here up and down the hallway,,,, it's very long (7 apts on each side) so that's PAWSOME for me ! I DO THOUGH MISS the swimming,, STILL dealing with my foot !! GRRR this as you may remember is goin back to the surg in June ! it does NOT wish to heal,,,,, so now I have a bone grower,, and it stimulates the cells so they do grow. FINALLY !! My Insurance co fought it long enough,, oh well,,, I have it now ! THANKFULLY !!! I see the surgeon on the 15th,, and will see if it's doing any good. i am sooo tired of this, but was granted about 2 1/2 weeks ago,, that I CAN AGAIN WALK !! They put a special type of metal in my shoe ($$$$$ it wasn't covered by insurance, but of course I was DELIGHTED to pay,,, I have that, cos of breaking out in the walking cast,,, so though its still broken YEAH I CAN NOT WEAR that CLUNKY THING ! YEAH !. So I have been 30ish mins each day,, than yoga (light) or whatever else I can think of,,,,I think for the start of this challenge,, I'll increase my exer time to 60 mins,, wanna join me?
