I am getting "close" to my original goal of something like 127- within 10 pounds! Right now I am focusing on building muscle and toning up as much as I can.

~NEW GOALS & REWARDS~
-160 lbs - met in June! ~ new swimsuit :D

-147 lbs by my 35th birthday (9/1/13)- met! ~ Cape Cod bday vacation weekend!

-137 lbs by New Year 2014 ~ NEW TATTOO! ~I flirt with this number all the time and it is way past the new year!

-Fit enough to RUN an entire 5K by May 2014: ~designer jeans (like not old navy, LOL; I've never bought expensive jeans!)

I would like to be below 25% body fat, at the very least, as a goal. Last I measured, on an electromagnetic impulse scale, I was at about 49%. Literally half of me was fat.

My new ultimate goal is to maintain a healthy, sexy, UBER-FIT body (through healthy, whole nutrition and exercise, which is suddenly fun for me - most of the time) and maybe someday become a NASM-certified weight loss coach. I was a psychology major and love to help people, and have been trying to figure out what to do for a career since being laid off and realizing I can't find a job OR afford grad school. I would like to combine my passion for organic, fresh, whole foods and my interest in helping others lose the weight FOR LIFE, and make a difference in the world at the same time by enlightening others to make better choices for the planet as well as their own health.

More about me:

I'm a 35-year-old mom of a 16-year-old boy, living in the now-famous Watertown, MA. I've always been heavy and got up to my highest weight of around 200 when I was in the unhappy marriage, 205 pregnant, and then ~200 again months after the baby. I'm only 5'2".

I plateaued for a couple of years after my initial successes at losing with Spark, at my apparent "set weight," then 165. (The new one is 140!)

I don't need or want to be thin. I just need (and want) to be healthy: exercising AT LEAST 5 times a week (long walks, yoga class, heavy weights 3x/week, swimming, elliptical, rowing machine-- what have you got?) and eating lots of fruits and veggies.

I love new SparkFriends and invite anyone to come on into the very chatty Hen House, which I co-lead, or the Cambridge, MA (and surrounding areas) team, which I'd like to grow again!

More (technical) advice for newbies:

Make sure you make your own SparkPage and add people; you have to "add back" people who add you so they are notified of your activity! You can view the list of people you've not yet mutually added by going to your "friend feed," "see all updates" (at the bottom), and then clicking the "Click here to see your friends" in the top paragraph! Then be sure to blog and/or use your "status update," because that shows up for mutual friends and it's a great way to support each other!

Current Status:

My Goals:
Currently about 140 lbs and a size 8 but can button up a 6! (I was a size 18 at my highest weight of ~200; I'm only 5'2").

General goals: Make exercise a permanent part of my life that I ENJOY!
(CHECK!!!!)

Stop obsessing about food and learn to eat to fuel my body, not my appetites. (PRETTY CLOSE!)

LOVE THYSELF AND STRIVE NOT FOR PERFECTION! (I try every day, but I am a Virgo...)

My Program:
1600-2100 calories a day when I am working out hard; 1300-1500 when I'm not; striving for 25 g fiber, at least 70g protein, 40-80g fat, and 90-150g carbs, focusing on vegetables and fruits rather than grains.

Eating CLEAN (real, whole foods) and at least 60 mins of exercise at least 5x/week: strength training, 5k training, yoga, walking, etc.

I have a FitBit Zip and I try to get 15,000 steps a day and about 1,000 fitness minutes a week (including the walking).



Personal Information:
I'm 35, originally from New Mexico, a Bostonian for over 25 years. Mom of a 17-year-old boy. Currently laid-off office drone/ grad school part-timer by night (no idea what to do for an actual masters), and I work at the front desk at a gym.

Aspiring singer-songwriter, writer, rather poor painter, and jewelry designer.



Other Information:
I love literature and the language, music (I play viola and guitar), nature, the arts, and animals. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and a "godless" pagan heathen ;)

hey. yeah I alerted someone about the grammar error on the definition magazine and I don't know if they'll change it for that since it's probably not something they can easily go in and change? I wasn't going to say anything until I posted on the facebook group where the magazine was inspired to start from, talking about how this local fitness magazine that I just found out in a funny surprising way I was even in took some "artistic license" and twisted and added to my words about the me before I lost weight and said something I have never done in my life never mind did before I committed to being healthier. It's not the biggest deal in the scope of things, but it said I used to "look forward to a beer on the weekends" and I've always been more or less an abstainer of alcohol my whole life (though I got curious two separate occasions and tried to drink...the most I've ever drank in my life is 2 drinks on two separate occasions LOL) It's so weird. All the people that know me well, if they see it, will be a bit confused haha. I don't really want to advertise it now. Needless to say I'm not going to share my story publicly like that again unless I can review it in completeness before it goes out, or if I am producing it in some way and have the final say myself...
