I am beautiful, confident, and I know I WILL NEVER give up!!! I will never say "I'll just start again tomorrow" "I'll just finish out the week and start over Monday" No, it's about making the healthy choice everyday. Making the next best decision! - MOMNAMEMANTOOTH

It is time. It is past time. The time is NOW.... I am going to do this every day, every single day even if I fail during part of the day I will stop, drink some water and keep going. I am going to reach my goals of being healthy and fit. I will because I am worth the work, the determination, the challenges to make my life a better, happier and healthier one. I will love myself and take care of ME.

"I don’t want to stare at the ceiling in a hospital room one day thinking, “I wish I would have taken better care of myself and not allowed this to happen.” Jason Anderson

“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation.
Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
-John C. Maxwell

I will incoperate food changes and exercises that I can readily do forever. I will do this by drastically cutting down or maybe eventually eliminating sugar other than from fresh foods. I also would like to eliminate wheat as it is known today nothing like what our grandparents ate.
I want to keep my physio exercises as a routine that becomes habit, and also get more strength training in.

A happy, healthy relationship with food and exercise is what I am aiming for.

A year from now you'll wish you had started today.

"It takes effort and belief to persevere and stay dedicated to accomplish your goal. When you find yourself doubting whether the effort is worth it, visualize how you will feel and what you will have once your goal is completed."

Feeling healthy and good about yourself is not an option, it is a necessity.

Part of the reason I wanted to do a 5K is to show you that YOU can do anything you set your mind to do. If a woman with herniated, degenerated disks, pinched nerves, bad knees, fibromyalgia, and arthritis can walk a 5K with a walker, YOU can take courage that you are capable of aiming for better every day. 2014 My word is BALANCE.... body, mind and spirit. I will take care and love myself in all aspects. I will work to make all 3 in balance and work towards a happier, healthier me.

This day is what you have to work with, no matter how much you could do yesterday, how much you may or may not be able to do tomorrow. That entails physical, emotional and of course our food!!

What can I do today that will make my tomorrow better? So knowing that I am trying to make each tomorrow better, today will incorporate moving, eating and thinking healthy with proper doses of both!

I want to lose this wt. to get healthier, to do all I can to not get cancer, to help my ruined knees and back last longer, to look and feel better about myself and to be able to pick up my grandkids and play with them.

When I just don't think I can I will re read Matts blog....

I can't believe that a new spark friend told me she is going to start her day with my page! OMG wow. I can't believe it and goes to show you that you never know what may help someone else.
I am honoured and also said that I have had a specific friend really say something to me that has stuck. Had to go back and remind myself countless times but still it is in my head.....What can I do today to make my tomorrow a better day!!!?? thanks BEMORESTUBBORN!

I totally understand. I'm often discouraged too. I'm getting nowhere with spakpeople and am wasting my time here. I enjoy my friends like you though and it I can help my friends it's all I care about right now.

If the water is waist or chest deep just walking is a great start... and then the "magic" is doing crossovers or grapevine. It has strengthened the muscles around my knees and made a huge difference. If I can do 10 minutes of crossovers and walking in the pool a day I find I can get through most of the day pain free (prior to the injury). Other exercises, to walk straight legged raising the foot towards the top of the water with each step (quads), to walk bringing knee to chest trying to bend the knee as far as it will go gently and same taking steps and trying to "kick your butt" and get a good bend. It may feel uncomfortable across the knee depending on how much space there is in the joint... might grind a bit... but gravity helps and you can do it slowly bringing your foot back to the bottom. I have water weights so I can also add biceps curls, triceps extentions (except they work both sets of muscles when you do them slowly), cross country skiing in the pool, jumping jacks, and then "jogging" and pushing water ie. push the water weights out in front of you... harder in the water and easier above the water. You can also do "rowing". You start on your front in a partial float with your weights, then in a fluid movement you tuck your knees up towards your chest and pull the weights towards your chest while moving onto your back with legs pushed out in front of you. Front to back and it helps if you do a "roar" as you do it and really pull the weights through the water like rowing. Then you go back to the front position using a tuck again but no "effort" with the weights. We call it the "Denise" because she invented it. It is a full body workout and really works the core, arms, back, legs. Then another member of my little workout group also named Denise, got jealous and figured out a side to side row. Harder to describe but also a challenge. Whenever you are in deep water "biking" or scissoring your legs, or cross country skiing you are working your core. You try and keep your head above your hips as much as possible and that uses back and abs while your legs are moving. You can feel the muscles tensed. It IS nice to have a therapist guiding you... but you can do it on your own. Our water dumbells are great but personally I have enough body fat that I have no problem floating int he deep end without them and can do the exercises without floats.

darn - yes, finers crossed! I cannot do aqua aerobics either - first I can't hear what the instructor is shouting, and secondly I kept floating away!!!!
they need to make more warm pools for adults - not just the children - I'm sure many adults would appreciate a sort of 'exercise pool' area - away from the Olympic swimmers!
