Back at it in 2013

Hello friends new and old,

I joined SP in late 2009 and was quite active for over a year, close to two. I had some life setbacks that became spark setbacks. While off SP, I continued to muddle along in various fitness and healthy eating attempts. I said "muddle," but all good choices have helped me the day I made them as well as overall in my life.

I'm more reality-oriented than ever in regards to my own health, fitness, and food habits, and ready to start sparking ...
Hello friends new and old,

I joined SP in late 2009 and was quite active for over a year, close to two. I had some life setbacks that became spark setbacks. While off SP, I continued to muddle along in various fitness and healthy eating attempts. I said "muddle," but all good choices have helped me the day I made them as well as overall in my life.

I'm more reality-oriented than ever in regards to my own health, fitness, and food habits, and ready to start sparking again.

Personally - I'm married, have two grown step-children, worked professionally and in the non-profit sector in the past. Currently I'm working on developing my writing skills and am interested in storytelling.

I believe in lifestyle change rather than diets, and that's what I'm working on. I want to move towards "eating food, not too much, mostly plants" as Michael Pollen says, and in functional fitness that supports my life. I'm in my 50's and this becomes more important every year.

I move on purpose because I enjoy vitality and fitness.

I prepare and eat nutritious and delicious food on purpose. Like movement, it's a foundation of my vitality.

I nourish connections with people and God - things that will last beyond today or tomorrow's level of fitness.

It's a process to grow in these things and it's a process I enjoy.

Personal Information:
I was overweight since childhood. Now I'm on my way to getting super-healthy. I make the effort for it to happen: I make fit happen. I make healthy happen.

HELLO!!! Not sparkin regularly, and no, not Paleo. Mostly low carbing but with real foods. I keep a journal at http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/threa
d36279.html I have a fitbit, so I am using the info from that, adding it to my MyFitnessPal.com food tracking (they talk to each other), and using June to collect data on all areas of my life that affect my weight. I have not actually lost much weight in the past year. and unfortunately have gained 10 since I last updated my ticker.

Trying to figure out what it is going to take to get me to my goal, and then do it!

Cat,
Thanks so much for your Spark goodie and stopping by to check in on me. Yes, it is very hard on me from going as a very active person to barely being able to stand walking, working, etc. And still NO EXERCISE yet until they clear me. :( It was frustrating at first b/c some doctors made me feel like this was all in my head but they just didn't know me and the person I was to the person I am now (healthywise). I am so grateful and blessed that I finally found drs who are listening to me and are taking me seriously about the issues I have going on and we are moving forward. Hubby even said he wanted the happy Maria back, I said I am happy, I am just too tired to smile!

I am soooooooo happy for you doll and that you are in such a better place, that is the best place to be! YAYYYYYY
