2010: The Year for an Open Heart

I'm ready to start again. I am a pound heavier than when I started my Spark journey in February. I was discouraged until I began noticing all of the positive lifestyle changes I have made (see Blog of 6/15/10).

I'm ready to start again -- or actually to continue with renewed vigor!

My Program:
Mindful eating: The plan is to eat only when I'm physically hungry, and then just until I'm satisfied. It takes far less food than I'd expect!

No alcohol: This has been what turned the corner for me. It has made a huge change since Oct 4, when I stopped consuming alcohol. Not only do I not have the calories from the alcohol, but I am also much less likely to snack when I'm not hungry, because I'm paying better attention.

Physically active: I am much more mindful of being physically active than I was before SparkPeople.

Just read your June 15h blog and I think it is brilliant--you've incorporated all these changes into your life that have created a tangible health benefit of lowering your blood pressure, thus reducing your risk of stroke. That is awesome!!!

Having just emerged from a plateau (I hope), I have a better understanding of how frustrating it is not to see the scale move. But I did try and focus on the other health benefits of what I was doing, just as you have.

Very inspiring blog!
