Me on 12/30/2010. Reality check that I haven't made any progress last year because I gave up, but now I'm motivated. I've lost 8 pounds since this picture, and 14 pounds since I got back on track!
My reality check. I've clinically obese. Have a long way to go just to reach the obese phase.

I have been "trying" to lose weight for almost 16 years now. I recently had some health issues and I realize that at 46 if I don't make changes soon I might not get another chance.
I've been forcing myself little by little to step outside of my comfort zone. For example, I'm made myself go swimming at a public pool even though I know I'm at times the fattest lady at the pool. This is hard, but necessary, for me to stop making excuses. The world didn't end and I felt great afterwards and had a lot of fun.
I recently discovered I am an artist, and am using art as a therapy to help me overcome some of my emotional hurdles.
I would say I'm ready, but I'm not sure I will ever truly be ready. Instead I'm going to wake up every day and not worry about anything but that day. My goals will be short term. I want to lose 10 pounds at a time. My ticker will reflect that. And I won't start a new goal until I have maintained the previous one for three weeks. I might continue losing, but I won't allow myself to focus on short term efforts, but rather maintaining and continuing.
I'm looking for FEMALE ONLY buddies to encourage, challenge and motivate me. I promise to do the same for you.
I'm not changing my profile picture because in all honesty I've not changed that much since the last time I posted in 2010, and I want that to be my original picture. It will stay on until I am at my goal weight.
Today my goal is to look for a support team, browse the website to see what has changed, set up my profile and exercise for at least 20 minutes, probably either going for a walk or riding my exercise bike. I also want to set up my juice station, clean out my fridge and prepare it for the healthy shopping I'm going to do tomorrow. Oh, and I need to plan my menus. Since I'm doing whole foods, I want to keep it simple and go shopping every three days so that the food is constantly radiant and fresh.
I would like to be able to ride on a bike for an hour or go swimming without being embarrassed. Plus so many other little things that are affected by this extra weight I carry around.
Mini Goal #1: 5 pounds at a time
Dream Goal: To be able to fit in my wedding dress. If I get to that goal I'm going to dry clean the dress, go get my hair done, and surprise my husband. :)
Follow a healthy, whole food nutritional plan.
20-60 minutes of aerobic exercise a day, 5-7 days a week.
2-3 days of strength training a week.
Stretch everyday to increase flexibility and for relaxation.
Results--peeling back layers of fat to rediscover who I am.

I'm studying to be an Graphic Designer and am going to school full time with a part time work study job in the art department
I'm a certified health coach (yes, and I feel like a hypocrite so I don't have a practice right now) so I do know how to be healthy, I just need to do it now!
I have two kids, a daughter who is 20 and a son who is almost 14.
We have a mini farm, so we have fruit trees, nut trees, goats (which means fresh, raw milk) and chickens (cage free eggs).
I'm an artist who loves photography, painting, drawing, printmaking and creating in Adobe products.
I have a blog and love to write.

thanks for the blog comment! Yeah, i actually spent some time reading OLD blogs of mine this past week, and it was so enlightening. You know how sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees? I was like...gee, I see some REAL patterns here, and it kind of made me realize I KNOW what to do, and HOW to do it, and it's time to just, well, DO IT! So here we are, hoping to keep strong through the weekend.

Hello! I just joined the "Done being the Fat Girl" team & I saw your post where you mentioned using essential oils. I think it was meant to be because I have had essential oils come up several times in the past couple weeks- I think I need to look into them. You said they were working for you- may I ask- what kinds are you using? Thanks in advance for any info! Hope you don't mind that I added you as a friend :)
