After an intense winter and spring of sensible eating and hard exercise, I found myself fit and ready for field season, climbing mountains, backpacking with a heavy pack, and generally putting in long hard days. Ironically, though, the days off allowed me to assume all my old bad habits: beer, ice cream, high-carb snacks, and long days lying around on the sofa reading. I didn't put on a lot of weight, but now that field season is winding down, if I don't change my ways my pants will get tighter ...

I didn't put on a lot of weight, but now that field season is winding down, if I don't change my ways my pants will get tighter and tighter. So I'm ready for BLC 26! My goal is continue my weight loss journey, and see if I can make it down to 140, which is a good lean weight for me. I also want to maintain this high level of fitness.

Personal Information:
Biologist from Montana. Irreverent, cynical, left-liberal, secular humanist. My idea of a great day is lying in my tent during a summer thunderstorm reading on my Kindle beside the high mountain lake where I will catch dinner when the storm stops. Add a big plus to that day if, when I arrived at that lake after a long hot hike, I was all alone, and felt free to peel off all my clothes and dive in.

Other Information:
My favorite books this year (so far) are The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and The Cat's Table. Update: Elizabeth Gilbert's The Signature of All Things, Jhumpa Lahiri's The Lowland, and Donna Tart's The Goldfinch.

If I could do anything I wanted for a week straight, I'd fish. All day every day. Update: A friend came to visit and that's exactly what we did. It was just as much fun as I thought it would be!

Thanks for the Power Flow suggestion. I have never heard of that. I just basically don't enjoy it. I did go to a "Go w/the Flow" yoga class once (yoga to live music) that was awesome. The couple that teaches it was out of Dayton and the Lululemon store brought them into town for a free class. I would definitely do it if all classes were like that. It was super hard but ironically very relaxing. I have attended several other styles and just don't seem to find one that clicks with me. I do know it helps in other areas.
