It's been a great winter, mostly because I avoided it completely by going to Chile. But I'm heading home now, and will have to get on the scale....oh oh....

Personal Information:
Research scientist from the Rocky Mountains. Irreverent, cynical, left-liberal, secular humanist. My idea of a great day is lying in my tent during a summer thunderstorm reading on my Kindle beside the high mountain lake where I will catch dinner when the storm stops. Add a big plus to that day if, when I arrived at that lake after a long hot hike, I was all alone, and felt free to peel off all my clothes and dive in.

Other Information:
My favorite books this year (so far) are The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and The Cat's Table. Update: Elizabeth Gilbert's The Signature of All Things, Jhumpa Lahiri's The Lowland, and Donna Tart's The Goldfinch.

If I could do anything I wanted for a week straight, I'd fish. All day every day. Update: A friend came to visit and that's exactly what we did. It was just as much fun as I thought it would be!

I totally love your sparkpage and your lifestyle. I think we are kindred souls on a certain level. You have obviously lived a life similar to what I dreamed about as a young girl. Love it! I wanted to be like you and my father wanted me to be like you too but my mom was not on board and neither was anyone else other than some of my male college professors. Mom spent my childhood crying over my female cousin's and my lack of femininity, of our poor "girl skills". Given our choice of dresses we both would choose the "ugly plain" one or even better, no dress at all. I don't think my cousin ever learned to sew. I didn't. I did learn to cook at least. Poor mom. We were like oil and water. She dreamed of me being married to a rich man while hosting elaborate parties. No offense to anyone but the thought of it makes me want to puke. So much more fun to be in out in a field looking at plants like you. You do fun things! Speaking of which there is a boletes in my yard right now almost the size of a basketball.

So glad you have again regained your health. I'm still working on it. I need less stress and more outdoor time.

We are remodeling the back porch and came across the canner a week ago. It started my hubby thinking about it but there will be no canning this year. Just remodeling!! LOL.
