In 2008 I found Sparkpeople, which sparked a rebirth in my athleticism and led to dropping 70 lb. I felt fantastic! Then 2 years later, after a very difficult pregnancy, a diagnosis of ovarian cancer & 3 complicated surgeries, I gained it all back. In 2010 I lost the baby weight and more (120 lb!) ), only to slowly gain most of it back again through stress eating. Over the past 6 years I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds, fluctuating over 80 lbs (yes, the pattern forming here is definitely that of a yo yo!).
I'm now cancer free, and a working hard trying to balance family, school and fitness without succumbing to my old unhealthy patterns. So now it's time to make permanent, sustainable changes!

"Defeat may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don't succeed, try another way.
For every obstacle there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
The greatest mistake is giving up."

"Many things are simply not going to happen with just one, or three, or even a dozen attempts. Yet anything becomes possible with enough persistence.
Keep going, and allow your efforts to build upon one another. Keep going, and transform the disappointments into achievements.
You have what it takes to keep going, because all it ever takes is just one more step forward.
Keep going, and work your way steadily to the richest rewards you can imagine."
-- Ralph Marston

8 minutes is crazy right?? Just goes to show all the 1/2 training helps! Also shows me I could have run the 1/2 even faster, so that will be my next do, new 1/2 PR!! Maybe a full next year, who knows!!
