My Journey

Wow! I just realized that on the 9th of January, I will celebrate my 2nd Spark-iversary! It seems like only yesterday that I found this site and decided to start the journey that has taken me beyond what I had thought were my personal limits. I have learned a lot about myself in these last two years, and perhaps the most important thing that I have learned is that limits are generally self-imposed, not physiologically imposed. Your body is an incredible machine capable of incredible things. ...
You have to realize that it is capable of doing many things, and will only stop when the mind tells it too, not because it is physically unable to achieve. If you tell your body what you want and expect it to do, it will strive to achieve. It will not stop until your mind tells it too. If you believe all of the limiting talk that is out there..."you're too old to do..." or "Women shouldn't do...", or "It's a metabolism thing, it's out of your control..." or "You simply can't loose the weight without surgery or a special diet..." You will NEVER reach your full potential. If, however, you believe in yourself and the strength, power and beauty that lies within you, and make a conscious decision to not let ANYTHING get in your way, YOU WILL SUCCEED!! You WILL achieve the body of your dreams...You WILL achieve HEALTH...You will achieve HAPPINESS. THE POWER IS WITHIN YOU! CHOOSE TO GO AFTER IT! CHOOSE TO GRASP IT WITH BOTH HANDS, SET IT IN MOTION, AND NEVER GIVE UP!!!!

ACK!!!! Making the decision to have surgery on your foot is a BIGGEE!!! I don't envy you in that dept, but you have to do something to give you RELIEF! Has he ASSURED you that you will be able to keep your athletic endevours up AFTER you have recovered? You've gotten a second opinion too? The reason I ask is a client of mine was MISDIAGNOSED the whole time with her foot. Her podiatrist told her she had a neuroma. She has been dealing with the pain for 9 months. I finally get her to see a dr in the BIG CITY (fort Worth) and he tells her she had a dislocated toe and a fracture!!! Everything this podiatrist had been doing was WRONG..... emoticon ....GULP!

Not trying to scare you at all, just trying to prevent this from happening to you. We just have to be so careful.

You know you ARE my hero doing all that you have been doing with your foot. YOU ROCK!

Thanks for the kind comments, I was hoping you would not take the suggestion of rest the wrong way :) I know I don't really know you (how can you from blogs and what not) but it just seemed to me you were working really hard (not a bad thing) and I had been too. When I took this time off I started dropping weight as my muscles healed. I'm with ya on the feeling like a slacker lol I just had to tell myself it was good for me. Anyway
Great job, and keep up the good work (with rest :) ).

You are very determined!! The last pounds of fat are the hardest to get rid of, but I'm sure you will get rid of it with your determination. That's a lot of cardio you do!! I hope I can follow in your footsteps when my bodyfat gets to 18%. Good luck!
