Hi My name is Holly and I am 50 yrs old and have been with Spark People for almost 4 years. What a time it has been. I never thought I could really lose 40 lbs when I started but I was going to give it a good try. Well here we are a couple of years later and I have gone past my original goal of 36 lbs and have lost a total of 40 lbs!
And maintained my 40 lb loss for the last 3 year.
I have run in 5 different 5K's since last July. And a 10K in April of 2015
Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have met along the way and have cheered me on to lose the weight and to provide the support. Somehow I feel like I can't let my friends down on this site which then spurs me on to go exercise if I am thinking twice about it.
Let's keep up the great work my wonderful spark friends, together we can do anything!

My Goals:
Goals for 2016
Run more 5K's signed up for 3 so far.
Continue to run and walk daily and enjoy doing it.
Cardio and more strength training!
Goals for 2015
Continue to maintain!
Run more 5K's
Run at least one 10K -Done on 4/25/15
Continue to train and run weekly for longer distances.
I can do it!

My goal was to lose weight, and to get in great shape. I can run for the first time in my life.
Spark people has helped me lose over 40 lbs.
I plan on traveling all over the world as time permits so I want to be in the best shape possible to climb stairs and ruins no matter where we go.

My Program:
Cardio at least 6 days a week for 45 mins to an hour.
I have come to love exercise and look forward to it and really do think of it as "me time".
I will add in more strength training this year and continue to train for another 5K.
Inclines on the treadmill are great workouts so I will add them in on non run days as well as the elliptical.

Personal Information:
I live in St. Paul MN.
I have been married for 30 years to a wonderful man that is extremely supportive no matter my size or weight. He has always loved me for me!
I have sparked him as well to watch what he eats and how much, he is not as crazy about it as I am but baby steps are great!

Other Information:
I have 2 beautiful daughters.
My oldesthas graduated from college and my youngest is a junior in college. They are both naturally thin girls and I am so glad that they inherited their fathers metabolism! They are very supportive of me and my healthy life style change and willing to try new recipes as long as they aren't too crazy. Of course, these are girls that grew up eating octopus and squid so they are pretty brave eaters!

    1. Play with kids.
Even if they are not your own, just kid around kids while they are just being kids.
    2. Give someone a compliment.
Not a fake one, but take the time to see something that someone else is doing well.
    3. Sing in your car.
And sing as loud as you can. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to frown while you are singing?
    4. Watch a movie.
You might like it, and maybe you'll laugh, and maybe you'll cry.
    5. Bake your favorite kind of cookies.
    Then eat some.
    6. Count your blessings.
I mean it. Start a list of all the things you are thankful for.
Write until you can’t write anymore. Staple it to the wall.
    7. Watch people.
Go find a crowded public area, sit down and watch. Allow yourself to wonder what he ate for breakfast, or what her name is, or where he bought that shirt.
    8. Do something for someone you love.
Do the dishes for your wife, take your niece out for ice cream,
take your mom to Starbucks for a coffee.
    9. Laugh
    It'll make you feel good.
    10. Think of the most encouraging person you know and call them.
But don’t complain. Refrain from telling them how bad your day is
and focus on making their day better.
    11. Write a letter.
A good old-fashioned paper and ink letter. Bonus: write it to someone who has impacted your life and thank them and let them know how much you appreciate their role/impact in your life.
    12. Make new friends.
One of them may be in your life forever.
