I weighed 400 pounds in July of 2014. On that day I decided I had had enough, and so started on a low carb diet, and a swimming program doing laps 6 days a week for half an hour. I stalled in March of 2015 at 231 pounds and held it for 8 months, then got sick and gained to 294.5. On January 4, 2016 @ 294.5 pounds I restarted a different carb controlled program, and right now I am at 221 and going down beautifully.

Meanwhile I am learning to walk. That would be re-learning to walk because the weight and sedentary life changed my muscle strength and gait. So I am now walking outdoors with Nordic poles and it is absolutely marvelous to be out walking again!

At 400 lbs, I used a cane and a walker. I had to use a motorized cart in the supermarket. Everyday activities were extremely taxing. I had high blood pressure as well. I was on the list for knee replacements. I am no longer on any medications, and my knees never bother me at all!

Today I walk on my own steam, am free of any medications and do not require any knee replacements as I have zero knee pain. I am 41 lbs. to my goal after which I make assessments for 6-12 months to see how well my skin readjusts before I notify a plastic surgeon for removal of hanging skin.

I am looking forward to maintenance and a whole new body. And a lot more activity!

My Goals:
Down to 180, or lower, if I can. We shall see. My lean body mass is currently @ about 123, so if you add body fat and glucose processing, that number increases. I have to wait and see. (BTW - Lean Body Mass = organs, bones, and muscles.)


My Program:
Ideal Protein
Swimming 3 days per week - one hour.
Walking Nordic poles 4 days per week half an hour.

Who knows - I may learn to run!

    I am going to try to start over. I ordered a wrist activity tracker and I will be loading the calorie watcher to my phone. I work at two jobs now and don't know when I will have time to walk. I think I need to layout a daily schedule. emoticon emoticon emoticon
