I need to lose weight because I've packed on 10 lbs due to my poor dealing with my hubby's traveling job, my tempestuous toddler and my night classes. On the other hand, healthy in all other ways, so who am I to complain? ;-)

Thanks, Liza! I find that Brian is willing to compromise as long as he does not feel like he is being totally deprived.

Happy to hear that you had a good Thanksgiving; I did, too. It was a quiet one; Brian and I took my mom and stepdad out to eat at one of their favorite restaurants. Now that Thanksgiving is over it's time to gear up for Xmas!

Hi, Liza! Since we both have husbands who sometimes aren't supportive of our weight loss efforts because they insist on eating fat-and-calorie-rich foods, I thought you might be interested to hear about a recent situation I had with my husband Brian.

In the past, we have eaten cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning while we're watching the parade; it had become a holiday tradition. The other day Brian mentioned that he was looking forward to having the cinnamon rolls on Thanksgiving, and he said that this year he wanted to buy the Pilsbury Grands cinnamon rolls. Inwardly I groaned. Goodies like that are very tempting for both of us but especially for me because I have a bigger sweet tooth than he does. I know what would happen if we made a whole package of cinnamon rolls; we would tell ourselves that we would limit ourselves to eating only one, and then we would end up eating all of them.

I said that I was hoping we could forego the pastries for breakfast since we are both diabetic and are trying to make better food choices and instead we could have something healthier for breakfast. I told him I would search the SparkPeople site for a yummy breakfast recipe. He did not react well to the idea of completely giving up our holiday tradition, so I came up with Plan B. I said, "Well, how about this: we'll go to the bakery and buy one cinnamon roll that we can share, and then supplement our breakfast with another healthy item." He agreed to that plan...yayyyyy!!!! It's a small victory but a victory nonetheless. Baby steps!!!

How have things been going with your husband? Is he starting to understand that you need his support with regard to your decision to make healthier food choices? I hope that he eventually comes around and decides he wants to be healthy, too.
