I am a 59 year RN married to best friend these past 40 years. We have 3 fabulous grown children and I want to keep staying healthy to someday see grandchildren. I have been diagnosed with DM for a little over a year and am now off all meds, controlling it with diet, exercise and weight loss and determined to stay that way. I credit SparkPeople and all the wonderful people and friends on this site who have shared their knowledge, advice and support. It will always be a journey but oh, what ...

My Goals:
I have pretty much reached my goals of losing weight (90 pounds) and getting off my DM meds so now I have to keep working hard to stay that way. Feeling as good as I do, I now wonder why I didn't do this years ago. But then I wouldn't have met all the wonderful people here on SP.

My Program:
I try to be consistent with my diet and exercise to maintain my weight and keep my BSs under a tight control.

Personal Information:
I live outside Philadelphia PA near the Delaware state line (tax free shopping!) I work as a legal nurse consultant and in my spare time I like to read, crochet, walk and love spending time with my husband, children and friends. I have three grown children, Ashley 28 married and a dentist, Hayley 24 in grad school for an MFA and Alex 21 who lives with hubby and me and works is an autobody repairer. We have two rescue dogs, Indy and Menlo.

Other Information:
My favorite poem is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. My philosophy of life is the Golden Rule (Treat others as you would wish to be treated) and I try everyday to live by it. I love life and am very happy!!

Aww the Mastiff is probably missing your son so bad. Not that it makes it any better when he's trying to sleep with you and keeping you awake. Hope your son comes back soon!

I would appreciate the address for that website for my friend. I don't know if she would use it much, but I'd like to pass it along to her.

I HATE malls. Hate them so bad. It takes a pretty serious reason to get me to go to a mall. All the malls around here are chain stores anyway, there are almost no local stores in the malls. And all the stores are crazy expensive. {It should be said that the 3 malls closest to me are in rich areas and known for wealthy people. The malls on the south side of town might have cheaper stores. lol}

Hope you get some sleep tonight!

Yeah I was like... free $100? Woo hoo! We've always talked about doing a CU cause the money stays local, and we finally did it. I'm glad. I try to support local business when I can.

Thanks so much for the info about Crohn's! I told her what you said about the popcorn, she hadn't been told that. They honestly haven't given her much info at all. Just told her no raw veggies and low fiber. She's also lactose intolerant, so she had a time finding stuff at the store, but she did find some. Hopefully she will be able to see the GI soon and get some good information.

Oh man I hope the medicine helps your daughter and she doesn't have to have surgery!

I'm glad hubby isn't having much pain, but it sucks that you're not getting much sleep. I wouldn't get much sleep either if I was sleeping with a snorer.

Hope you're having a great Tuesday!

THank you so much for answering my questions. I appreciate it. Your information was helpful. I did read the other person's comments too. I have noticed the group is friendly and nice. But I guess I was having a day when no one replied I had to say something. But now I know. Thank you again for your kind words.
