I am a 59 year RN married to best friend these past 40 years. We have 3 fabulous grown children and I want to keep staying healthy to someday see grandchildren. I have been diagnosed with DM for a little over a year and am now off all meds, controlling it with diet, exercise and weight loss and determined to stay that way. I credit SparkPeople and all the wonderful people and friends on this site who have shared their knowledge, advice and support. It will always be a journey but oh, what ...

My Goals:
I have pretty much reached my goals of losing weight (90 pounds) and getting off my DM meds so now I have to keep working hard to stay that way. Feeling as good as I do, I now wonder why I didn't do this years ago. But then I wouldn't have met all the wonderful people here on SP.

My Program:
I try to be consistent with my diet and exercise to maintain my weight and keep my BSs under a tight control.

Personal Information:
I live outside Philadelphia PA near the Delaware state line (tax free shopping!) I work as a legal nurse consultant and in my spare time I like to read, crochet, walk and love spending time with my husband, children and friends. I have three grown children, Ashley 28 married and a dentist, Hayley 24 in grad school for an MFA and Alex 21 who lives with hubby and me and works is an autobody repairer. We have two rescue dogs, Indy and Menlo.

Other Information:
My favorite poem is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. My philosophy of life is the Golden Rule (Treat others as you would wish to be treated) and I try everyday to live by it. I love life and am very happy!!

Awwww poor Fasa. I hope the boiled chicken and rice and Pepto Bismal fixes him, but if not it's good that the vet can see him on Saturday. Hopefully it won't be necessary though. Poor guy. Give him a good scritch behind the ear from me.

Oh man I bet that was the longest walk of hubby's life! I'm glad he's home safe and sound though, and I bet you're glad to have him home too!

No news about the PAD results yet. So I guess "a couple days" means more than two. lol I have an appointment with the endo tomorrow morning and then another day of waiting to hear something from my pcp. REALLY hoping she gets back to me before the weekend!

Hope you're having a good evening!

I'm glad Fasa is feeling better and ready to eat. Poor buddy!

And I"m so glad to hear your hubby is doing so well! Horray for no pain in his hip! Hope he makes it home safely from the hospital.

Hope you're having a great day!

Yep, The Lady Vanishes that's streaming on Netflix is the Hitchcock verison. I'm pretty excited to watch it!

I'm not a fan of comedies from any time period. You are definitely right that things are much better these days. I'm glad I don't have to get dressed up like that to go to the store or something!

Wow that was a crazy good find with the book. I bet your daughter loved it!

Hope your hubby is doing well and recovering quickly!

I'm so excited that you've seen The Uninvited. No one else had even heard of it. Dh and I both loved it. And I just had him look up The Lady Vanishes on Netflix and it's streaming, so we'll watch it this weekend!

I have Rebecca for my ereader but I haven't read it yet. When I finish the book I'm working on now I'll give it a read. It's been on the "someday" list for ages, but I'll bump it up.

I'm so glad your hubby is doing well! Sucks that he's in so much pain, I hope the pain med makes it much more bearable for him. Hopefully he will heal up quickly, too!

I read Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner. I liked it quite a bit.

Hope you get some good sleep tonight and that hubby is in good spirits tomorrow!
