I'm 70 and live in the Midwest most of the year, but usually head to south Texas or Arizona for some of the cold winter months. We have 3 living children, 2 DGSs, ages 11 and 8, and a grown DGD who just became mommy to our first great-grandchild, a girl!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around ...

I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the grandsons for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and exercising.

My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will eat within my daily calorie range and abstain from evening eating and snacking.
2. I will eat at least 5-7 freggies each day.
3. I will eat 3+ protein servings daily, including at least one dairy.
4. The remainder of my calories will come in the form of carbs.
5. I will include strength and stretching exercises in my daily routine.
6. I will participate in the Silver Sneakers and water exercise programs at the Y 3-5 times each week.
7. I will continue to exercise a minimum of 10 min/day on days with no scheduled activities.
8. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 5% Fall Challenge, as well as my team activities.


Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, spend as much time as possible with our grandsons and new great-granddaughter. We just moved to a condo last spring, so we're adjusting to having no outdoor responsibilities. As a former gardener, I'm missing that.

Lol my friend, it's way too stinking early for wind chill warnings!! Lol winter is a coming here very soon. This. AM it was 48 at 8 am. Sigh.

I'm so glad u do reAlize how important the tracking is. I m. Now in the routine even when I do not eat well. That helps me to b mindful of the next day. I'm going to ask the entire team to track for the 8 week. That is how we won the last challenge on weight loss,,, most did track. Also to start a streak. So ill go and write this up to them.

Hey there, Jeannie, great to hear from you. I have most definitely been out of the Spark picture this summer but my life is getting back to normal, with the exception of working my tail off. Oh, money tree, please hurry up and grow, for I need to retire but still need to have the funds to play!!!!!
I am sad to report that I have been a very naughty girl insofar as my eating and exercise are concerned. I have put weight on but won't know the true extent of the damage until Saturday. My pants sure are tight, though. I've decided I must really like feeling overwhelmed by my weight because every time I get excitingly close, within sight of my goal, I go for another soar.
I would absolutely love to buddy up with you, Jeannie, because I sure do need a friend. I will definitely get psyched up by Saturday and get this body on the right track again, with the help of a few well placed kicks from you, of course...lol
I'll put the coffee pot on!!!

OH MAN ! POORAH Richard !! Oct 8th?? I'll simply sit therah and BAWL if my Dr says longah !!

I've been a NAUGHTY gal today,,,, I THOUGHT my foot was healed on the bottom sore,, so today I did a lot of walking,, well its NOT healed,,, and now I need to wash this stocking,, and had to double bandage it again. SIGH gal,, will this EVAH get bettah?

I am WANTING BADLY to return back to the pool ! my friend who goes with me,,,, is in a deep, dark depression,,, she's starting to suck me dry,, and into it. UGHERS !!! it's hard to get away from her,,, we've been friends since we were in the 7th grade. If she starts to swim,, and feels better abot breathing,, she'll start to come outta it. She should be going without me, but she's not,, I would without her !

I hope Richards foot will FINALLY get better,, has he had an otheoporsis test? That could be why he's not healing as quickly as the Dr thought. It's clearly going to be an issue for me. I will not be surprised if I am not healing as they want. I m a slow healer,,,, with that,,, and diabetes,,, and neuropathy,,,,,,, it is as it is.

Hi! I just wanted to comment on your page! It is so beautiful with autumn leaf backround! You have beautiful photos, you must be very proud! I love your approach to losing your weight! You have really thought this out to work! I am starting off slow but getting excited thanks to everyone!I feel we can sure make progress with this method!
