Making It Happen in 2010!

I just turned 40, and I have been working on a healthier lifestyle since August. I have an amazing support team, especially my wonderful husband. Right now, I easily keep up with my sons (11 & 7) and my Corgi, and I want it to stay that way. I want to Irish dance without feeling like a big lug next to petite dancers. I want to complete my first half marathon (Sept. 2010) in a decent time, even though I will likely walk most of it. I want to conquer my emotional triggers forever. I will ...

I will accomplish all of this with the amazing support here at SP!!!

My Goals:
To feel comfortable in my own skin again. (Done!) To not hide from cameras, so that my sons have pictures of me. (Done!) To stop being so nasty to myself in my head - Quit playing the tapes from childhood - I am not a linebacker! (Mostly done!) To wear my cute smaller clothes again. (Still at least 15 pounds to go.)

My Program:
I walk my boys to & from school, plus try to get in at least one more exercise activity each day. I am starting the C25K program to train to my first half marathon in Sept. 2010. I dance (Irish step) when I can at home. I have started tracking my "Points" (WW style) again. I post motivating pictures to remind me of where I want to get back to. I write in my gratitude journal daily.

Personal Information:
I live in Orange County, CA. My family loves Disneyland. I read voraciously (Harry Potter, Robin Maxwell, Andrew Greeley, etc.). Irish dance is my best stress reliever. We travel to Europe as often as possible, mostly to Ireland & the U.K.

Other Information:
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
Keep moving forward!
Let's do this thing!
Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!
Slow and steady, steady and slow - That's the way we always go!
I am loved, I am wanted, I am cared for.
H.A.L.T. before eating! Think about H-hungry? A-Anxious? L-Lonely? T-Tired?

Lol @ your dad. It's a shame because all the girls disappeared. People got new jobs, had babies etc and nobodys posted on there since September but I refuse to 'leave' the group in case someone comes back! Well done losing 1lb, that's over half the gain, yay! My eating isn't too good this week I'm afraid. Had lunch out on Monday, then yesterday wasn't too bad, I overate but it was on raisins and strawberries. I'm giving up chocolate for Lent next week so hoping that will be my turning point, not that I'm religious, it's just an excuse to be better, like New Years resolutions :D Have you any Lent plans of sacrifice? emoticon

The Celtic Woman concert is well worth the wait. Towards the end of the concert they stopped and talked to the audience. The youngest one of the group is only 19 years of age.

When you get the chance to see them, you will not DISAPPOINTED, especially with the percussion section....wow!

Thanks, Becky. Tell your friend I wish her the best dealing with all the unknowns of parents' journeys, too. The other saying I'm always blurting these days is from Philip Henslow (I think that was his name -- Geoffrey Rush played him) in Shakespeare In Love: "It's a mystery!"

I appreciate the good wishes very much!

Barbara
