Update: Over three months down the line, 20lbs down, a challenge completed and training started for a half marathon in June. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride and a little slower than I would have liked but overall I am happy with my achievements! Pushing on!

Eirlys is 3 next week and after a very difficult couple of years, I am the biggest I have been. This in turn makes me miserable and is a symptom of how my life seems to have spiralled out of control.

But now it's time to fight back! To take back some control and feel better about myself again!

So what better time to start afresh, than the beginning of a new year.

Finding balance is not easy ... we all struggle with it.
emoticon Just 20 minutes of prayer or meditation can help sometimes. And, then again who has 20 minutes, right? So here's a tip a friend of mine gave me ....

Pick a sound that you hear throughout your day. Doesn't matter what it is ... a dog barking, the ding of a phone, etc. And whenever you hear it throughout the day, stop for just a second and breathe deeply and ask God for his help and blessing on your day. Setting that habit has made such a difference for me.

A little teacher humor ;-)


Four high school boys afflicted with spring fever skipped morning classes. After lunch they reported to the teacher that they had a flat tire. Much to their relief she smiled and said, "Well, you missed a test today so take seats apart from one another and take out a piece of paper." Still smiling, she waited for them to sit down.


Then she said: "First Question: Which tire was flat?"
