I am 38 years old and 5" 5' and I am finally at goal weight of 120 lbs. Since joining Spark I have lost 7 pounds 'the slow way' (losing 7 lbs in 6 months by eating within a comfortable calorie range and with sticking to a manageable one hour, 5 days a week exercise program which consists of jogging, yoga, and Turbo Jam sculpt &Turbo Jam abs. ----- i was asked recently how i am managing such a disciplined eating and exercise lifestyle....this is my most recent explanation: well for me it's been an evolution of thought processes which have brought me to the most disciplined time of my life with food and exercise.....when i maxed at 130lbs last sprins and clothes were fitting really tightly, i decided enough was enought....i am 5'5" and very small boned...so for me 130 lbs is really heavy.....i am now down to 117-120.... i eat in a very comfortable calorie range--over 2000 calories a day, but the key is that i exercise religiously M through F and eat clean.....i don't deprive myself, but for me a treat is eating some dried cranberries an cherries with dark chocolate or eating a chocolate flavored yogurt.....i don't eat baked goods that i do not make at home and when i bake, you bet i have as many wholesome and ingredients that count towards nutrition....in fact everything that i put in my mouth has to have some nutritional value or i don't eat it.... how did i get to this point mentally?...even though i've always been a good eater--since i was 21 (i'm 38 now), i was still subcumbed to cupcakes and birthday cakes.....i could eat a chocolate cake in 5 days--justifying every piece as pure heaven in my mouth......but i always felt bad and guilty about it afterwards.....i would eat so much cheese, it probably would have been cost efficient to buy and graze my own cow--LOL.....but i always felt bad afterwards..... i could never master portion control either......i'd go for seconds almost always..... and just recently, about 8 months ago, after going through a 2 year phase of being sedentary due to building my own business, i said enough is a enough and that i needed to get the whole health thing under control, not with the focus of being skinny, rather on being healthy....i also hated myself for eating crap---didn't hate myself while i was doing it, rather afterwards and i got to the point that it was not worth feeling like that anymore..... and that's when it all started to happen for me...i have been on top of eating and exercise for 8 months and i lost the weight slowly without calorie restriction because for me there was no rush to lose the weight....heck it took me 2 years to put it on, why should it take only 3 months to take it all off?
