Hello, world!

I am a busy doctoral student, full time adminstrator at a college, and artist. I have discovered that as I devote more time to my studies and career, the more sedentary I have become. I do not want to sacrifice one for the other and I am ready to find balance in my life.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes! I love those shoes, too. Yes they're the new ones I've been talking about! They are my goal weight reward. emoticon

Thanks again for the addition advice on shoe buying. Part of the "HUH?" thing I have had is the try new shoes to see how it feels. I am worried that I will not notice anything, and not be sure if it's because there is no different yet ... or I am just bad at noticing if there is a difference.

But from what you said you can indeed feel. So that is good to know.

And ... that means I should wear my current shoes then, so I can compare. I would not have thought of that ... so yeahh.

I think I am getting sick ... so not this week ... but I think I will go in next weekend for sure!

Hi Amy ~

Thanks for the info on the shoes! When I bought my first pair of running shoes I did go to a running store. They did the gait analysis and everything just like you mentioned. The shoes I got works really well.

However, I am nearing 400 miles on it I think? And am starting to think about new shoes. I keep hearing I will know when I need them. But I really don't know!

When I asked someone at another store they told me if I got a new pair I would be able to tell if my old ones were bad. And I am all like ...HUH? I have to buy a new pair to decide if I need a new pair?

And also ... how do I know what the next pair is I want. I see all these ads for shoes and I can't tell if I would like them.

But .... you mentioned to get another gait analysis for even the second one ... I had not thought of that. I will go back to the original store and talk to them about it.

Maybe I will write a blog about it too!

And not take up soooo much room on your page :)

Thanks again!

I wear compression socks for recovery after my long runs (pretty much anything over 8 miles). I wear CWX Stabilyx tights on most longer runs (again the 7-8 mile cut off). I normally wear the capris, but will probably be going back to the full length now with my calf issue. I've never had shin splints, but had a calf issue before the long tights helped with. Along with the fact they offer a lot of overall support (hips, IT, and especially knees). Super pricey, but worth it for me - an investment that costs less than medical attention. :)

Have a great week!
