I am a busy doctoral student, full time adminstrator at a college, and artist. I have discovered that as I devote more time to my studies and career, the more sedentary I have become. I do not want to sacrifice one for the other and I am ready to find balance in my life.

My Program:
Using Spark Coach and tracking all calories (1,100-1,300 daily) and at least 10 min of exercise a day.

I run 3 times a week and bike once.

I do at least 3 days to strength training.

I eat whole foods, no/low sugar, and coffee.

Personal Information:
I am Associate DIrector of Student Services and doctoral student. I recently relocated back to Southern California where 72 and sunny is the forecast most days!

Hey you! How exciting - all of it! I'm so happy for you. Your second full, huh? I'm not sure I have another one in me. I'm not saying never, but I still LOVE the half distance. Taking it kind of easy on races this year (although I am running one tomorrow). Trying to get as strong and healthy as possible for my goal of 20 HMs in 2016. Good to hear from you and thank you for the kind words. I have enjoyed watching you grow in your running and everything else (except size - lol).

Dear Amy,

Thanks for reading my laboriously long “Lost Blog: Great Outdoors Part 2 – Disaster Strikes”. Out of necessity, I have become an expert on first-aid kits. I am a regular customer of REI and firstaidmart.com

I add additional BZK antiseptic towelettes to my various kits. I make sure the scissors are high quality. If not, I replace them with a good pair. I add a short blade folding knife and a tube of triple antibiotic ointment. Often the surgical tape and bandages that come in first-aid kits are small and don’t stick well. I test this stuff and replace when required.

Most people don’t need first-aid that often, but when you need first-aid, you want a good kit. My knee wound was horrible and deep. I get squeamish just thinking about it. I lost a lot of blood. I think without proper first-aid, it may have been Sayonara. My lower quads and knee looked like they had been blasted from inside by a small explosive. I actually tried to take a photo of the wound back at camp. But I couldn’t hold the camera steady enough with my shaking hands to get a good selfie shot of my leg. I was way too self-conscious to ask someone to take the shot. I then tried to re-dress the wound myself because I unwrapped bandages to try to get a photo of my leg in my tent. A made a mess of it and got blood all over the inside of my tent. I took this little chapter out of my blog because the blog was too long with just the necessary story elements.

I have Lost Chapters of my Great Outdoors lost blogs. The whole story is small book!

Since you lived in Sedona, Arizona, which is on the Colorado Plateau, you have a good idea of the topography of Southeastern Utah. The Moab area is big draw for mountain bikers, as is the Fruita/Monument area in Western Colorado. The topography is quite variable on the Colorado Plateau but is always spectacular.

Thanks for the hug....just gently right now. LOL I am such a klutz! Upsets me that I'm not able to do everything right now because of my own stupidity. I best be feeling great by January 10 - that is the one year anniversary of my perforated colon and resulting surgery. I plan to run and be very active that day to celebrate a full year surgery-free.

How's the shoe/blister situation?
