Eh, what was I saying?

When I joined SP in January 2008, I posted on my sparkpage that 2008 would be "my year."

It wasn't, and you don't have to look any further than my page title for the reason: distractions.

Oh, we call them "excuses" a lot, but that doesn't encompass the problem. Here's an example.

I have an indoor cat. One day she scooted past me and ran out the back door. It was already fairly cold, but I knew it was going to be near freezing that night, and as an indoor ...

It was already fairly cold, but I knew it was going to be near freezing that night, and as an indoor cat she doesn't have much of a winter coat. Naturally, as a cat parent, I was very concerned about getting her to come back in, and I went outside frequently to call her and try to lure her with treats. But I wasn't outside the entire 6 hours she was missing. For much of it I was inside sitting at my computer playing solitaire. And I didn't work out. Why? Well, because I'm worried about my cat, so how can I POSSIBLY concentrate on working out?

See? That doesn't really rise to the level of excuse. That's distraction.

Therefore, my goal for this year is to focus, to resist the distractions.

Thank you for the encouragement regarding starting the C25K program. I'm still freaking out about it but provided it doesn't snow this weekend I'm going to start my program on Tuesday while my son is in school.
