What a gifted life I lead, blessings and good fortune and opportunity - all conspiring to make me happy. I recently read this: "Any God small enough for us to understand isn't big enough to do us any good. " Neat concept, huh?

Life does gets complicated all of a sudden, but then it calms down in the ebb and flow of growth. Then it cycles all over again, rinse and repeat forever and ever.

HAHAHA! No, I didn't mean sponge-worthy like that, I was just tired.

Sunny today, storms last night, and again tonight. It never ends. Next come the locusts. No wait, that would be mosquitoes here in TX.

I think I need to vacate or vacation soon!

One of my brothers actually bought a house in Wimberley six months or so ago...bad timing!? Not far from the Blanco River. Fortunately, it's on higher ground, and, as far as I know, they didn't sustain damage or flooding. He was out of town and wife (with friends) was there. Their younger kids attend school in San Marcos, also flooded, about 30 minutes SE of there. I'm trying to catch up with my family, but it's hard b/c my niece just graduated and got a track scholarship, and my *other* niece (her sister) is married to a Golden State Warrior, and they're in Houston and kind of busy with NBA playoffs.

I try to stay out of both extremes of the family drama(s), but I love them all. (the family and the dramas)

I'm done with this sponge-worthy weekend. Oy!

Funny that you "prepped" so much before seeing Mad Max: Fury Road. I was CLUELESS (I guess I"ve been so busy?!), and hadn't planned to see it at all. Knew almost nothing about it. BUT...that day, I heard it reviewed on NPR and when I heard about the crone motorcycle gang, I was like, "Dang, I'm going to SEE that TODAY!" Seriously.

My 13 year old wants to see it...what do you think? I think, aside from the breast-pumping scene, it's ok? He's seen violent action, etc.

Oh, but I'd make my kids watch the other Mad Max movies first, of course.

A little-known movie (it seems) that Charlize was in is "Young Adult". It's really depressing, but I liked it (I'm weird). She was really good in it. I still have to see "Monster", though.

I think that LOTS of people eat for emotional reasons. I think I may have been an emotional eater at one time, but really just always had a big appetite. I was deprived of food as a child. My mother thought I was fat when I was 5 and took me to the pediatrician who put me on diet pills. Seriously. Luckily for me I took one and it put me to sleep. I went down for a nap two days in a row in the middle of the afternoon and my mother could not have roused me if there was a tornado. By the third day mom had given up hope that diet pills would work. I can't say that that was my mom's or my Dr.'s finest moments, but it *was* the 60's.
