What a gifted life I lead, blessings and good fortune and opportunity - all conspiring to make me happy. I recently read this: "Any God small enough for us to understand isn't big enough to do us any good. " Neat concept, huh?

Life does gets complicated all of a sudden, but then it calms down in the ebb and flow of growth. Then it cycles all over again, rinse and repeat forever and ever.

Ah, yes, back in the day, one waited on one's own block for the school bus, even to a magnet school! Nowadays, I'd have to DRIVE my kids to our local schools---yes, two different schools, b/c one is in HS and one in MS, both magnets---where they would take about an hour to get to school from *there* (local school). Also, I'd have to get them to the separate schools by about 6:50 a.m.

INSANE! emoticon

The truth of the matter is that their schools are only about 15 minutes away from each other, and I'd rather spend that time with them in the car, than have them lose sleep to catch a bus (and still would take me about an hour a day). I'm hoping youngest brings his grades up to get into eldest's magnet when the time comes! As it is, Eldest has a full HOUR at school to do what he wants in the morning (study, homework, visit w/ friends), b/c it doesn't make sense to go back home (other side of town), then take him back to that area.

When I lived in New Orleans and went to a magnet school, I think I rode the bus about 45 minutes each way. At least, it seemed that long!

I do NOT pamper my kids, and I do think this is crazy, but I couldn't figure out any other way to do it! And we don't have a huge car, so not sure carpooling would/could work.

I just keep Keeping On!

Food Day might sound ominous to you, but to me it is just a day that I designate to get my veggie basket and anything else I need from the city or from town because it's a long drive and takes all day. I'm not a binge eater. Never have been. I used to eat a lot of food, as in more than I needed, but was never into binge eating. For example I have never, ever, ever eaten a pint of ice cream or an entire cake. When I get upset or break up with a boyfriend I talk. I'm a talker. I'll talk to anyone who will listen. Sometimes I'll even talk to people who don't listen or fall asleep while I'm talking, which is rather depressing, actually.

"Whatever you want in life, start today.
Not tomorrow - today.
Let it be a small beginning - a tiny beginning.
Your happiness depends on starting today - every day."

Thanks, yes, I've thought about a couple of book ideas--one about the newbie-to-Florida experience, the other basically the back-of-the-house stories behind restaurants and bars. But Florida lore is getting more and more interesting the longer I'm here.
