Striving for Health

I lost 50 lbs. with Weight Watchers. Got off Cholesterol and blood pressure meds. Then got Rheumatoid Arthritis, had 2 should repair surgeries when my bones cut through my rotator cuffs, and my weight loss came to a stand still, but for 7 years have kept that weight off. Now I'm using Spark People and getting results again. Still struggling with pain, medications, etc., but grateful and determined.

Thanks for your comments. My hubby got a really nice chair with handles for the shower. I wasn't able to get up without them. He also got handles for the commode last night too, so I'm set to go.

There was also two documented cases of the curing of RA. One girl got RA at 3 years, idopathic juvenile RA(like me), then at age 11 developed osteo! Well this Dr. put her on a elimination diet and actually reversed her condition! The other case was much the same. Its the idea that the bacteria in our gut control the expression of more genes then the DNA from our parents. If something disrupts the good bacteria and increases the bad this can cause disease. The microbiome is the new thing they are looking at getting healthy. This would explain why no one in my family history has the disease. And its noted people with RA tend to have allergies (which I do). Its not a huge stretch to imagine I might have food sensitivities. They claim tests aren't accurate (but I have never been tested)

They do specify which fats of course, with coconut oil leading the way. One of the most interesting concepts is that a lot of our health problems are caused by reactions to foods causing inflammation that can manifest anywhere in the body. They claim 70-80% of people are gluten sensitive. What is suggested is like an allergy protocol. Eliminating the most reactive foods for a month and then add them back in one by one to see if you have a reaction. Things like dairy (no whey), soy, gluten, corn, peanuts, eggs, sugar (artificial sweeteners) It would mean careful reading of labels to make sure you don't get anything sneaking in. But essentially just eating whole foods.

When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."
