Thanks for the comment on my page and congratulations on your new puppy. My oldest westie also thinks she needs to supervise the others playing. She'll even correct them, which is funny to see. You'll have to post a picture of the new one. They are so adorable when they are little.

Janna, Trust me you don't want four terriers. We keep saying we will never do a puppy again. If and when we get another dog it will probably be a senior scottie from rescue. I don't have the energy for puppies anymore, lol.

If you're not comfortable with letting other dogs play with your scottie, I wouldn't, our dogs can sense when we are nervous and it's better to be safe, you never know how another dog will react. One of my 3 yo westies is a very nervous dog, she tries to nip at other dogs if they approach our fence. I know she is protecting her territory but I don't know how to get her to stop. None of the others do it, they just bark. Any ideas?

Janna, I have 3 westies and a scottie. The scottie is the oldest at 6. the westies are 5 and the two sisters are 3. (I know I'm crazy). My scottie has the best personality of all my dogs, he's friendly, loves kids (which scotties are not known for) and is calmer that the westies most of the time. He does have his moments though. The westies here rule the roost, there are times when he gets tired of being picked on and lets them know but it's not very often. We used to go to dog shows when we had our 5 yo shown, the only dogs I have ever seen go after each other were two scotties. We did get our scottie from rescue when he was 8 months old, he was kept in a crate for most of that time, the woman who had him was deaf and had a deaf 2yo. It sounds like your westie is the alpha dog. which is ok. You wouldn't want to have 2 alphas. Let me know if you have any questions. Welcome to the Westie team. This team has alot of fun together. I've added you as a friend.
