I married at 18, lived in North Hollywood, and then many cities in So. CA. Now in Sacramento. At 23, I contracted polio after having had two children. Came out of hospital after 7 wks. Could walk fairly well. Never used any help to walk. In the mid 70''s I was hit with post polio syndrome. Something I had no knowledge of until in the 80''s. Just knew I was doing a lot of falling and always tired. Had two more children after polio so have two boys and two girls. I spend my days in a power chair, and am thankful for it. Just not possible to do any exercise, can do some stretches, that''s all. Hard to lose this way, but I am going to try my hardest as the extra weight does not help the aches and pains. Love this site!! I joined 50+ members with 50-99 pounds to lose, and one other with great people but I couldn't keep up with the correspondence neces

Hi Betty, Thanks so much for your good wishes on our upcoming move. (less than a week to go!) My step daughter and her husband and 5 children live near Charlotte, like your dear daughter did. They are in the small town of Matthews which is just outside of Charlotte. We will be about 3-1/2 hours away from her and also my son who lives in Asheville NC. Much closer than the 5-day drive it now takes.

We have been going back there every Fall to visit and we drive instead of fly so we can get around once we're there. It will be so much nicer to be at their places in less than 4 hours. We're picking Charleston so we can check out the beaches- we are walkers not sun bathers LOL. I would like to volunteer in some way to protect the beaches and the sea turtles. I will look into that once we get settled in. You know what a major change a move is since you've gone through it several times. There is a big period of adjustment I'm sure. Take care and hope your week is a good one sweet friend. BIG HUGS. ~Sandi

Dear Betty, here's the Cliff Notes version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray." Dorian Gray is a very handsome, rich, young man. He has his potrait painted, and somebody remarks that the painting will stay forever beautiful, while Dorian himself will show the physical signs of age and lifestyle. Dorian wishes aloud that the opposite would be true. His wish is granted, and Dorian goes from bad habits to debauchery to crimes to depravity. All the while his own body shows no mark, but the portrait becomes more and more marred and scarred. Finally, Dorian dies of a very advanced old age, at which time, the destruction shown in the portrait is transferred to him. It is only by examining the rings on the fingers of the corpse that his friends are able to identify the body sprawled at the foot of the portrait of Dorian Gray.
