I started changing my life May 6, 2005 in preparation for my wedding in August of that year. I weighed 160 pounds at 5'3, so it was definitely time for a change. I lost 23 pounds and over 17 inches from my body through exercising, eating healthy and controlling my portions.

In the intervening years I have learned the hard way (several times :-)) that this is not a quick fix and that I am always going to have to remain vigilant when it comes to my health and fitness.

After a few rough years, filled to the brim with emotional eating, I made some massive changes in my life. 1. I started bike commuting. 2. I hired a personal trainer and 3. I moved to Tokyo. Between those three lifestyle shifts, I've lost 20 pounds and achieved a decent level of fitness. Now I'm ready (again!) to start hitting it harder and working my way back to my goal weight and fitness level.

My Goals:
Increase my running mileage.

Drop below 155.

Drink plenty of water.

Reduce my consumption of dairy, refined carbs and salt.


My Program:
Following my fitbit calorie recommendations, making healthy food choices, hitting 15,000 steps a day, drinking lots of water, running, weight lifting and ellipticizing my way to a great body.



Personal Information:
Lipstick librarian living in Tokyo. My career is on hold at the moment while I live the glamorous expat lifestyle. Instead I'm concentrating on: getting fit, creating art, writing, bike commuting and learning Japanese.

    Hi! Read your story and your journey - at least as the numbers go - seems very similar to mine. I also topped out at 168 (I am 5'2) back in 2008 and my goal right now is 130 but would like to get back into the 120s at some point after I take off the 'excess' ...

    Thank you so much for your comment. Yesterday I was extremely flustered but all the outpouring from everyone really adjusted my frame of mind. I love the idea that you put up photos of people that do motivating things such as a push-up! Such a wonderful idea! I have someone running in my photos because I want to remember how it clears my mind and that I am a runner. Sometimes its hard even today for me to look in the mirror and come the self realization that I am a healthier person and that I am a runner now because of it. The mind works in wonderful ways... emoticon

    Hey girl, how are things going??? Are you still training??? I miss talking with you...my life is starting to straighten out again, the biggest positive factor in my life is I passed my state board exam...I am a licensed x ray tech...YAY!!!!!!!! Now my hubby wants to train for the disney marathon next January, so I'm trying to train for the half marathon...let me know how your doing!!!
