Eat real food!

Hello...
I'm Jen, and I'm here to lose the last 20 pounds and continue getting healthier. I follow a primal/paleo-ish diet and am quite active... these things are helping me reach my goals. I want to look, feel, and perform my best.

UPDATE: I was blessed with a healthy baby boy on 7/6/2012. I was 192 pounds at the time, but reached my pre-pregnancy weight within two months. I'm on track to reach my goals now. Yay!

2014 UPDATE: I've gained some weight back, ...
Hello...

2014 UPDATE: I've gained some weight back, due to lack of sleep, high stress (and poor stress management) along with too much reliance on processed foods. I feel so much better when I eat whole foods and ignore the usual dietary advice here. You may not agree with me, but that's ok... I'll do what works for me. You do the same. I'll still support you! :)

--- BACK TO THE REGULAR PAGE---

My story:
I have been overweight most of my adult life, despite 10 years of vegetarianism, calorie counting, and exercising until my body gave out. I've naturally moved toward a "primal" diet, still eating lots of veggies, but adding quality animal products (pastured, organic whenever possible).

In 2008-2009, I went from 196 to 165 pounds, with lots of exercise & dietary changes, but in early 2010, I gained some of that back due to medical issues. I've also found that I am gluten intolerant, and have overcome several minor health issues by being wheat-free. I feel much healthier than I have in years, maybe decades cutting out the junk!

Be strong! And smile!

Thanks for the thyroid thought. I'm pretty sure that's what the problem is. At one time a Dr had me on Synthroid but when I moved and changed Drs (5 years ago) the new Dr said I didn't need it because of the T3 T4 tests and stopped it. I believe that's when I started gaining weight and getting sleepy after meals. Guess I'll have to argue with him some more.
Have a wonderful day and keep smilin ~~~

I have found the Whole30 rather great honestly :) The one time I had a slip (Easter at my aunts) I felt terrible for two days after. Bloated and really off food (but wanting to eat more junky white potatoes and something sweet - didn't).

For the most part the diet is great, but I know I will add back in: the balsamic vinegar dressing for my salad (dry lettuce is not my long term thing) and will most likely eat fresh green beans and snap peas this summer (from our CSA box).
