November 2009
Hi, My name is Jen--- I am 43, a mom to four kids ages 13,10,4 and 2 year old. What can i say about this last year.. becoming a healthy person in so many ways other than just losing weight and exercising has brought me and family so many opportunities that i NEVER expected...I can't wait to see what another year of this lifestyle will bring.. I am up for the the changes and challenges!!

Hi, My name is Jen--- I am 43, a mom to four kids ages 13,10,4 and 2 year old. I am up for the the changes and challenges!!
I have been a work in progress for several years to get to this point. I suppose I will always be "in progress" but I feel my life is more closer than ever to what I consider to be valuable.
17 months ago , the day before i had my baby i weighed 225lbs..Being my last pregnancy, I vowed that I would change my ways regarding food and exercise.17 months later, 85 pounds less... I have run in 11 5K races, 2 half marathons, 1 15K ,1 10miler and I expect to continue a monthly race schedule thru 2009.. I love running ; it certainly does not come naturally to me. I work really hard at it. I also have worked hard to develop my muscles through strength training. I have started to bike ride and yoga in order to cross-train. I really really believe that for me the focus has to be on the doing , the active rather than the idea that I cant eat this or that.. I do not deprive myself. I by choice chose not to eat certain foods but nothing is really off the list that I can never eat or drink again. I hope to one day run a marathon and compete in a triathlon.
A word about this site! I am continually amazed by the support I and my friends receive. I never expected on a daily basis to be motivated, inspired, laugh and cry and want so very much to be part of a collective group.
I feel blessed to come in contact with EVERYONE i meet thru this site. Each person can teach me something- I hope I can give back as much as i have been given.
My HEROES on SP are the ones that succeed with their goals as well as those that falter but never give up trying.
KEEP THE FAITH!! ONE DAY AT A TIME!

*cardio-mostly running 3-5 days weekly
*Strength training 4 times weekly
*i have entered an organized fitness event
one time a month(in my case 5K races)
*Spreading the spark with my husband who has stopped smoking and started running since i became a SP member; spreading the spark with my children.. my daughters BMI has lowered since last years physical- the kids are eating more fruits and different veggies and lots of water!!
*connecting up with several specific spark buds who hold me to accountability with my program
*becoming knowledgeable about whole grains, proteins and veggies and being willing to try new dishes
*drinking water ALL DAY LONG!
*i eat LOTS of veggies each day- if i dont, my body doesnt feel right.
*i eat fruit everyday.
