Growing up, I didn't have the best role models for exercise or healthy eating. My mom put a stick of butter in everything she cooked, I mean EVERYTHING! Veggies, pasta, bread, etc. It wasn't until I got out on my own that I realized just how bad all of that food was for me.

Growing up, I was teased every day at school for being overweight. I rode horses, which I consider a sport, but I wasn't doing it enough to make a difference.

Growing up, I was teased every day at school for being overweight. I rode horses, which I consider a sport, but I wasn't doing it enough to make a difference.

In 2007, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease (Hypothyroidism). Instead of feeling relieved--Yes, I finally know why I could never lose weight!--I felt defeated. I thought, "what's teh point of even trying if it's not going to come off?" I let my weight balloon and by the summer of 2009 I weighed 240lbs.

The pictures I saw from that summer prompted me to take action. I tried teaching myself how to eat right and workout, but I was never able to stay consistent and my weight yo-yo'ed as a result.

But then I found SP in 2011 and that all changed! Since joining sparkpeople I've stayed committed to getting healthy for the first time in my life! Yes, I've had ups and downs but the difference this time is that when I fall I know how to get back up and each time I make it up quicker.

As of January 28, 2014 (my 29th birthday) I am 170lbs! The last time I was in the 170s was 8 years ago. I'm stronger, faster, braver, and healthier than I have ever been in my life!

Thank you for visiting my spark page & adding your support...regarding yoga...I have books with poses...DVD's etc. I may investigate chair yoga or extra stretching from my bed since I don't do floor exercises anymore due to a knee surgery years ago. It sure would be a good stress reliever...I agree, unfortunately last week I fell back to a bad habit of the instant food gratification...gotta stop that!!!

Anyway, thanks for visiting my page & I've added you as a spark friend....
