HEALTHYSTART

I am changing my introduction today after almost a year. May 1st 2010 was my start date with Spark. Now today April 11 2011 I have a different perspective. I used the nutrition tracker in the spring of 2010 and lost 22 pounds then in the fall of 2010 I stopped doing it. I just got tired of it I have continued to read Spark people emails and have continued to go for walks but the winter saw me gain back all but 6 pounds of my spring weight loss. I just got tired of it I have continued to read Spark people emails and have continued to go for walks but the winter saw me gain back all but 6 pounds of my spring weight loss. I obviously haven't changed much if I am still yoyoing. I will continue ... I will use the tracker and I wont give up. Spring is around the corner and I want to get back to where I was last summer. With the help of the tracker and great spark friends I know I can do it. Peace

My Goals:
To find a course of action that will eliminate the temptation to solve emotional issues with sugar and or bread and butter.. To excercise, drink water and appreciate good healthy foods.

My Program:
Walk every day. Start strength training soon.
Cook without sugar.
Track my food consumption. Make sparks friends and learn to use this amazing resource.

Personal Information:
I am Joanna Carnie. I am a grandmother but the grand kids are 18 and 20 years old. I live in northern British Columbia in the countryside near a small village(originally from Montreal). I walk in the woods with my friend and our dogs. I am married and have a part time job at the local college. I read a lot and volunteer at the food bank.

Other Information:
In the last 20 years I have lost around 40 lb. twice. It seems like every 9 or 10 years I decide to lose the weight again. It creeps on at the rate of 3 or 4 pounds a year. I hate the scale and my clothes are tight. I am hoping to break the yoyo cycle this time and keep it off.

Many thnks for the input from Dr. Estes. I have been following beloved Thay's condition via the Plum Village website. I LOVE Clarissa Pinkola Estes and follow her on Facebook as well (I'm Maha Valerie Christensen on FB), but I didn't see this wonderful entry. Bowing in gratitude.

I don't know if you noticed my blog back in September 2013. It was about future plans, including attending a retreat with Thay at the monastery in MS. It also has a couple photos from the retreat.

Again, many thanks for thinking of me. Sending up prayer and mantra for Thay in this moment.

Love prevails,
Maha

P.S. Just to let you know that the color of purple when entering text on your page is very difficult to read. For that reason the typos above that I'm not going to bother corrrecting (lazy me).

Good for you to pursue the lights you needed when you worked, and I know they will help you at home, too.

I don't need them at work. Behind my desk, about 2 feet from my back, is a full French door that lets light in all day. It is weak, since it is on the north side, but it is natural light and I value very highly that I can turn in my chair and see the sky and the many trees outdoors.

I loathe driving home in the dark at 4:30, when the winter gets its firm grip on the day. Already looking for spring, and it isn't even October! And thinking of retiring, and I am only 62!
Guess I am never content with what I have...
