Confessions of a dolly...... xox

Sooo i really have no idea how this has snuck up on me so suddenly, one minute i was a little overweight - now i have 50lbs to lose!

I had to give it up because of financial commitments (it was only a summer job) and it was totally devastating - now im back in an office job in the City that i hate!! My dream is to work for a particular airline (guess they better not be named) where appearance is everything so i really think the weightloss is important and will help me.

My goal is to weigh 130lbs by the end of 2014 and to make a good start on that by April when my boyfriend and I are going to Thailand. I'm determined to feel confident and happy in a bikini. There are some seriously beautiful islands out there and I want to cherish my photos forever not be ashamed of how i look in them.

Motivation and emotional eating are big problems for me, any advice or tips if you struggle with these would be so so great

Actually quite exciting about starting this, i just need to get myself into the swing of things and form a little routine. I'm definitely a "i'll do it later" kinda girl - time for change!!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I know what you mean about the 20 minute jump, when I saw that I was completely intimidated, I was like, are you kidding me?? I thought there was no way I was going to finish that. I jogged super slow. The good news is it kicks back down after that week until you are ready to pick back up in time!

I'm on Week 2. Today is actually Day 2 of Week 2 so it's still only running for 1.5 mins and walking for 2 mins, totalling 21 mins of "workout" and 10 mins of warm-up/cool-down. I do these on my way home, typically, and I walk home every day which takes right around 60 mins in total, give or take a few minutes. It's pretty fun and I'm glad to take it easy because I really don't want to destroy my knees... again.

Oh, also - I see that you've got "master running" as one of your goals. Assuming you have an iPhone or an Android, there is an amazing application that will help you build endurance and stamina. It's called CT5K and it stands for "Couch to 5 KM." There are free versions of the application.

I use "c25k free." The icon has a little breast cancer ribbon in the lower right hand corner.

If you get this and are ready to start running, we can start doing this on the same day and work towards completing the program together?

I know EXACTLY how that is, believe me. It's so frustrating because we all know what we need to do to lose weight - eat well, stay hydrated, exercise - but we all have these unrealistic expectations. Me, I usually stick to a diet for about two weeks and then when I don't instantly fit into a dress three sizes smaller, I get really discouraged and say, "Why the heck am I even trying?"

I don't know why this time is different, but it is. I really do believe we just get to a point where we are TRULY fed up with feeling a certain way. I remember being unhappy about my weight for a long, long time but clearly it wasn't unhappy enough to do something about it. Five weeks ago, though, my body was like, "ENGAGE SKINNY TIME!"

I weighed in at 190 lbs this morning which means I have officially lost 20 lbs. I am over the moon.

Do me a favour - and yourself an even bigger favour - and give yourself a month to lose five pounds. Don't stop exercising, don't stop making the right choices until 30 days have passed. If you're putting in the effort, I can guarantee you that those 5 lbs will be gone and many, many others, too.
