Philippians 4:13 (KJV) says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Looking forward to seeing a better me in 2014.

Once upon a time, I was a young lady who was very athletic. I loved playing softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, certain gymnastic activities. My all-time favorite was track & field activities, esp., running. Every opportunity I had, I would take off and just run for the fun of it. My mom and neighborhood friends would wonder why was I always running? Sometimes, they would even ask if someone was chasing me. Haha! Running made me feel good and free as a bird. Lol. I was one of the fastest girl in my high school class and was asked to participate in our schools' tournament against other schools. But, turned down the offer because I didn't think I was ready to make that type of commitment. Neither did I care to deal with the pressure of striving to win for my school and feeling disappointed if I didn't win. I'll admit that I even had a dream of being in the Olympics.

Well, so much for that dream because as the years went by, inactivity began to slowly set in and that nasty thing called weight gain began to increase. Before I knew it, I was no longer between 105-115 lbs anymore. I weighed in somewhere between 160-170 lbs. Ouch! Having received more than enough criticisms, scorning and feeling very uncomfortable in my own skin, I decided to do something about the weight gain, that is, join SparkPeople. I had heard so many good things about this sight for a while, yet hesitant about joining. So glad I gained the courage to join because reading the blog posts from so many members gave me hope and motivated me to press toward achieving my goals. I lost at least 30 lbs and kept it off for quite some time. Then lost my focus and became sedentary again, quit being active on SP and returned to being on again-off again active about 3 years ago. Happy that I'm becoming as active here as I was when I first started. So, with the Lord's help and encouragement from SP Friends, I'm looking forward to losing all the weight I re-gained and more.
