Faith, Willingness, Action; this is what I think I need to achieve my goals. Gratitude, Vision, Open to receive... Gratitude for the many blessings in my life; vision of myself being healthy, strong, lean, and limber - and believing that I can succeed. Willing to do what is necessary to create the changes I need to make. Open to succeed. That, at least for now, is what I think...

Update - It has been over a year since I joined Spark People and I can honestly say that it has changed my life. I am calmer about this whole weight loss journey, and rather than going on the roller coaster of intense dieting followed by desperation and bingeing, I am building healthy habits. I hurt my knee and am going to have surgery later this summer. It has taken me a while to figure out how to exercise around it, and my calorie burning part of the fat loss equation has tapered off, as has my fat loss. But I know it is a temporary pause as I get my health back. I started a new career as a personal trainer and love it. My injury reminds me that it is important to learn how to work around injuries and not let it stop me from being active. Also, I need to take it a bit easier so as not to injure myself.

I have an affirmation that makes me smile when I think about it. Here it is:

I LIVE a vibrant, healthy, active, loving, creative, abundant, joyful life, surrounded by beauty, and people who love me, and support me, in being my best, and giving my gifts.

Since I have been more or less chanting that affirmation as I walk the beach, or hike, it seems like it is a reality.

Here it is August 2015. I joined spark people in March 2007. Loved it then and love it now. This time I am feeling different about the journey. This time I am focusing on creating a lifestyle and habits that will support me for the long haul. I am ok being where I am right now, and I am getting better everyday.

124 lbs and 20% Body Fat by December 3, 2015

Intermediate Weight and Body fat goals -
July 2 - 147 lbs, 29% body fat
August 6 - 142 lbs, 26.5% BF
September 3 - 138.5 lbs, 24.5% BF
October 1 - 134 lbs, 22.5% BF
November 5 - 129 lbs, 20% BF (WOO HOO if this can be real!)
December 3 - 125 lbs, 18% BF (I suspect that I will lose some lean mass as well as fat, which is why these don't exactly match up...



My Program:
August 27, 2015

Cardio - 250 minutes per week in the target heart rate range.
I plan to walk or hike everyday whenever the spirit, or my dog, moves me, using bursts from time to time to increase heart rate.

In addition, I plan to do strength training 3 times a week, split routine.

Yoga for a break from routine when my body needs it.

December 2008
I am following the steps on Spark People to build healthy habits, and aiming for 30% protein, 40% carb, 30% fat, eating like a hunter gatherer and avoiding processed foods. I am focusing on eating the most nourishing foods I can... "eating clean." I aim for a minimum of 8 servings of produce a day.

Calorie Cycling;
6 vegis and 3 fruits/day;
Cardio - 6 days/week;

Max-OT weight training 3 days/week.

    Way behind because of computer troubles, sorry. Thank you for the encouragement Jill, sorry I am late.
    Sounds like you are getting stronger. You know I can do the plank for a minute, but only because it was part of a routine I was doing. Just a regular plank, not the side one, still getting better with my balance though.
    Push ups I do with my knees to the floor, will try the boys way soon.
    Man holding a plank for 4 hours, he must be strong, but that really bore me to stay still that long emoticon
    I got out today to celebrate the first day of Fall, my favorite Season. Just up to our hills, not much Fall color, but we will be going on mountain hikes very soon for that.
    Hope you are getting out, maybe you are already seeing some beautiful colors out your way.

    I am still working on it Jill. You are stronger than I. Been doing wall push up, better on my planks, still working on the side planks, but able to balance better.
    Did something to my one arm, but it is better now. Slowly but surely.

    The original one I remembered reading was a bit more scientific, but I can't find it again. It seems your uphill walking intervals should give you the same benefits!
