As you can see, I like to ski. That's what I do all winter. In the summer I just sit around and wait for snow.

I bought a new pair of skis for this winter. Really hot K2 numbers that carve snow like a knife does butter. Fast, stable and turnable. Best skis I've ever owned!

My Goals:
To be able to run comfortably again.

And it would be nice if my hips and knees would stop hurting.

My Program:
Lots and lots of cardio and weights. I'm back to doing cardio before weights, and sometimes I'm too tired to lift heavy..

I retired from the Marine Corps in 1992 where I was a helicopter pilot for much of the time.



Other Information:
I'm a technical writer by profession, and spend my days writing computer books few people ever read.

I give new meaning to RTFM!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I don't know if my son would be open to joining Spark. I think he considers it a place for old people, and he doesn't like reading or writing that much, although he does read a lot of books. My greatest inspiration here is from reading other blogs, writing my own blogs and then the comments I get on it--comments like yours! I do feel like his journey to lose weight (in whatever way he desires---his food plan (frozen meals, etc.) does NOT look appetizing to me--I think I'll stick to my counting calories--it worked before), and having him here in the house and working so hard on it (I don't see him giving up either--he spent $1,000 on ONE month's worth of meals--that alone would keep me motivated) will help keep me going. I have already pledged to quit buying snack-type food, even the so-called healthy stuff, so that it is not around to tempt him (or me)!

Welcome back to the wonderful world of moderation at it's best!

I know shoulder surgery can be a real pain and I hope you did get full cooperation with physical therapy and that you can keep up those exercises and add to them as you get stronger.

Is that snow that you are living in? Now sure my arthritis could take it!! LOL

Re: The diet soda thing. If I can do it, anyone can! I have been hooked on diet sodas for years and years and years. I've been worried about what they are doing to my joints and about how bad aspartame is so I had to try. I found out it's a lot easier than I thought to give them up. I'm not craving them like I thought. Sometimes in restaurants I start to order one without thinking and then have to switch to iced tea or water with lemon. But really, you can do this too!
